Almost finished my entry for the federal duck stamp contest. If selected, this would be reduced down to about a 2-inch stamp. This makes the composition challenging. Round one of the federal duck stamp contest, judging happened today. Checked out the live stream and saw that my peace did not make it through to round two, sadly. But I expected this. I have a rougher painting style since I usually paint on rough wood. And that rough mark-making aesthetic doesn’t lend itself well to a small stamp. I’ve only been painting, professionally for two years, and this is my first entry into the federal contest. So, I think with some practice in a smoother, cleaner style, I might do much better next year. Loved the challenge, and good luck to all.
