This branch is out of the way for us, but we attended the Saturday Explorers on March 1st and it was well worth the trip! I heard about Saturday Explorers through a Q&A they had with the St. Louis Arc and we do respite for a young man with epilepsy several Saturdays a month. As soon as we entered the building, we saw familiar faces from the IDD community. While we waited for the conference room doors to open, we walked around the library to see the layout of this branch. I ended up scanning quite a few books into my Good Reads app for future reading.
The event itself lasted around an hour and they divided us into four groups so that we could try four different experiments. Our friend ended up being more interested in his iPad than the experiments, so we just helped others and had great conversations as we moved table to table. They had two staff in the room during the event and with the agency staff and caregivers in the room, there was plenty of support to assist everyone that needed help.
After the event we went to the children's reading area facing Weber Road to read. There was a variety of seating options in this area and a lot of natural light. There is a family restroom nearby too, which is ideal when my husband and I are both doing respite for the young man. When I told my colleagues about the great experience they said" Weber Library is so great and welcoming! I used to take someone to their coffee and coloring event."
Thank you for offering the Saturday Explorers event and we hope to make it to...
Read moreGot a new library card and went on a computer to print form needed to get Dr. License. Staff was very helpful and in good spirits. Good selection of books, especially mysteries.
Not the best library for new releases. Other than that it's great.
I figured out how to get the new releases I'm interested in. You just ask the people @ the check out/help desk (duh, lol) and they see if they have copies then they will hold it one a copy becomes available.
6/12/23: Enrolled in their Summer Reading Club. Received a free book of my choice. You go onto their website & log in your your minutes you've read & the book. They enter you into raffles, you get points along the way. Also if you attend library functions or go to different attractions,ie; Art Museum, Grants Farm, Zoo you also get points. Excited to see what all will happen now...
Read moreThe library staff are very kind and helpful. To be honest, I have mixed feelings. The reason I have mixed feelings is I loathe what libraries have become: A platform for every kind of nutty liberal culturally Marxist wackoism one can imagine. And like Big Tech, the libraries censor viewpoints that disagree with theirs. This is obvious simply by surveying their collections, speakers, activities. But at the end of the day, this library is well run and has a lot of resources. The staff is great, and they deserve five stars. The problem of far-left wing Marxist activism is now pervasive at virtually all libraries throughout the Western world. This problem is by no means unique to the St Louis County...
