Great experience! They are voluntarily running this so please tip them. They have so much knowledge and artifacts. A must-go if you are a history buff! I suggest investing 2 hours minimum so you can read all the information that goes with each artifact. They said they had a much larger museum, but the last bad hurricane destroyed it. They are trying to get to a bigger location so they can display everything they have in storage like a real plane. I'm also happy they explained the true history of the Crash Boat Beach, as there is a tour at that beach that has a lot of misinformation. Truth = "Crash Boat used to be a military port used to rescue downed air crews from nearby Ramey Field (a US Air Force Base to the northwest that is also closed). It's not a very large museum. In fact, it's rather small. But if you decide to visit you'll need more than an hour or more. There are so many artifacts, models, and articles that depict the history of Ramey Base and the various events during that time period.
The guides, some of whom are veterans themselves, are very knowledgeable of the history of Ramey Base as well as the local history of the area. They were also very patient with answering my many questions. If I had more time, I would have stayed longer.
To the folks at Borinquen Field-Ramey Air Force Base Museum, thank you for all your time. This museum is a great asset to the community and for those who seek how the Base came to be. And also, thank you for...
Read moreBeing a military retiree and living part-time on the West Coast of Puerto Rico. I was surprised to learn about the museum's existence. If you're a veteran and you're going to the Coast guard exchange to pick up some goods. Plan a little extra time one day and check out this Museum. The staff was excellent and knowledgeable and they even gave me a little insight into some of the paranormal potentially alien activity in the area. Thanks a bunch!...
