I’m being extremely fair with these 4 stars. I had to look up the actual definition of resort and this place is a resort in the literal sense. It is a popular destination for vacation or recreations. Me my wife and 2 daughters. One 5 month the other 8 years all slept comfortably in a double queen bed. We came in at 9 pm and left at 6am the following morning. Only stood one day as we were touring the island. The pool was nice water clean tiled walls and floor. Hotel staff very kind friendly and responsive at facility. The restaurant service not good like hotel staff, take long but the food is pretty good. Building looks like a motel, but this place is in a good location if you have a car. It feels safe as the coast guard barracks are about a block away. Survival beach it’s 5 minutes away driving on a pretty harsh roadway. I mean it’s paved but sides of the road eroded into the mountain. Paradise at day i don't recommend at night because of the road going down. Crashboat beach 15-20 minutes away road down to crashboat is a lot smoother. This edge of Puerto Rico sits high above sea level so you have to go lower in elevation to get around. 8 mitues away going east is a strip with about 12 restaurants. I would recommend monsoon bar and lounge. Now on price, I alway do tons of research when we’re touring places like this. I factor in a few things, price, reviews, location, availability of other places, whether I can gain rewards points or not. Room size fees parking etc. If there was something better in that area with similar price I would take it quickly. If no other choice would have presented itself I would probably stay here again. You can probably get an air bib somewhere but with no pool and probably not a safe. Parking is easy I stood on first floor by pool. I tried calling the next day because I thought I left something and never got an someone to pick up. Will try again in the mornin. Ac worked good, shower was nice and hot. Towels do need to...
Read moreWent there on Saturday in need of a room at around 8pm. First the miss in the counter was talking on the phone with another employee for about 10 minutes though I was fine with it afterwards because she apologized. Then transaction goes as normal she says it’s 135.15 with tax. Take out my wallet and have exactly $135, tell her so, then she rudely says, “you better find those 15 cents then” with a very fake and patronizing tone to it. Now, I now about the hotel industry to the point where if she was the manager she could have lowered the price and if she wasn’t she could have called her manager. I ask nicely if there is a lower room rate (insinuating it is a FIFTEEN CENT difference). Also, since I’m booking directly from a hotel the prices are usually more flexible. An even sterner no. Went to my care and drove to Cielo Mar were the staff was warm and friendly and the stay was 85$.
Oh and don’t forget! It was a 15 cent difference that cost me a snarky response.
Conclusion: Pay and extra 30$ to stay at the Marriott next door that is much nicer (you get your moneys worth out of the pool and gym alone) or 10 min away be greeted with a warm welcome at Cielo Mar if you want to be treated hospitably.
My family and I used to stay here all the time in black outs, literally never again. Ever since they remodeled they’ve been getting more and more “comemierda” but this is a new low.
Important note of comments below! Katherine’s Review is actually of the Marriott next door. Just thought you...
Read moreOverall, the hotel is a great place, the rooms are very much spacious, and there is a TV in there, a Refrigerator, and artwork.
I think the customer care receptionist are doing their best to see that you are doing great and ready to attend to you. But something is fundamentally wrong with the phone line; it keeps you on hold forever, playing a sound. Work on that so that customers can reach out almost immediately and get the call picked up.
I could not reach out to them the night I came for the shuttle; however, they provided a shuttle when I was leaving the hotel. I doubt if shuttle is a regular service they provide though.
The service folks are doing a great job, but some of the cleaning equipment needs to be changed or the materials themselves. e.g., the towel should be sparkling white! The rooms are not soundproof; the day I got in, this machine was working outside, and the sound was just too extreme.
Even at a discounted price due to the conference attendees there, the price is almost at par with another hotel I stayed at NY, with a more interesting features in the NY hotel though; however, I have heard the cost of living is relatively high...
