DISCLAIMER: no rescheduling for weather conditions!
Route is great, horses are easy to ride and seem to be very well taken care of, our tour guide was cool.
Iâll rate it 3 stars because for a business that has been around for 10 years and makes thousands of dollars a day, they lack customer service. I believe having a 24 hr in advanced cancellation policy is to be expected since theyâre trying to secure their time and money and itâs the bare minimum policy any business is going to have but having no policy for rescheduling is pretty ridiculous especially* for weather conditions given the nature of what this business is⌠I understand how it can be inconvenient to have to reschedule a lot of people that might want to reschedule in a same day but given the business and their years of experience there should be some sort of system in place even if rescheduling means it being in a couple of days from your initial booking.
The morning of my tour it was pouring raining and at the hour of our tour there was a predicted thunderstorm. We really really wanted a beautiful sunny morning. We called at 8:00am since our tour was at 9am and asked to reschedule NOT cancel (we were just 2 people) the lady on the other side of the phone which I believe was Elizabeth said if we wanted to reschedule for tomorrow we would have to pay the amount of $200 again and that if we werenât there 40 mins in advance to check in, our spots would be dropped and our money lost, she backed this up assuring weâd have a great time since the day before the groups that she had rode in pouring rain and had a blastâŚ
Not only was it cold, windy and rainy, a wet horse reeks, all the equipment was wet and we got extra stained bc all the equipment had dirt, the whole stable was muddy obviously, everything was just uncomfy.
All this to say, beware of weather conditions before booking bc they really...
Read moreMy husband and I are currently on vacation in Puerto Rico, and one thing Iâve wanted to do for a long time is riding horses on the beach at sunset. We found Tropical Trail Rides and thought it sounded perfectâexactly what we were looking for.
However, Iâm 23 weeks pregnant, so we wanted to be cautious and called ahead to confirm whether Iâd be allowed to ride. We were told that as long as I had written permission from my doctor, I could join the tour. Based on that, we cut our afternoon short in Cabo Rojo and drove two hours to arrive by 3:30 PM for the group ride.
When we got there, we waited for about 30 minutes and were told there were enough spots for us to join. But then, once the female owner noticed I was pregnant, she told us I could only ride on a private tourânot the group one. This was never mentioned in our earlier calls, despite confirming multiple times that I would be eligible with a doctorâs note and that there was a possible opening in the group ride.
The male owner kindly tried to convince her to let him take us on a private tour instead, but she declined due to liability concernsâcontradicting what she had just said about private tours being the only option for pregnant women.
While both owners were friendly and professional, there was clearly a major communication issue. We did everything we could to confirm in advance, yet were still turned away after a long drive, lost time, and missed opportunities on our final day in Puerto Rico.
I fully understand the need for safety and liability precautions. My frustration stems from the lack of clarity and consistency in communication. I hope this experience helps them better align their policies and communication moving forward, especially for expectant mothers trying...
Read moreIâd give this business 0 stars if able to. Very upset because this was me and my two kids first time on family vacation. There was someone in our riding group that said she was scared and wanted to get off the horse as soon as our group started the trail. The guide did not return her back to the ranch and kept trying to tell her how to ride the entire time of the trail. Because of the woman, our guide had to guide his own horse and hers at the same time which caused him to be stressed physically and mentally. Because of that woman me and my kids and the rest of our group did not even get a chance to do a water break nor stop to take pics at the beach. Our trail guide turned us around and our group didnât get to complete the full trail. Once back at the ranch I asked the manager for some form of compensation or a refund since we werenât able to get the experience due to some lady we didnât even know holding our group up. The manager lacked empathy and said all the tours are variations of the trail experience and trails may have variations, then also said it depends on who is in the riding group. It was very disheartening to us that the manager did not care and basically held some random scared personâs actions against our entire group. Itâs a risk you take being apart of some group with people you donât know because if they hold your group up, the business wonât care about your experience or the money you paid. Pic is of the manager walking away when she didnât care that our trail tour was ruined by a woman that shouldnât have been able to continue the ride since she was so afraid of the horse. She thought it was...
