It's my first day in Fairbanks, I had to mail two of my small pets via USPS due to airline guidelines, before hand I verified that it was legal and safe to being my pets to Alaska. Unfortunately I do not have a car, and my bike will be arriving in about a week. I decided to walk the 4 miles to the post office to pick up two large packages (the pets) and was immediately denied, being told that my packages were not there, and infact were at a different USPS. The older woman behind the counter was very unkind in her delivery, to the point where she was cutting us (my SO was with me) off and making the entire experience very uncomfortable. We went out front to figure out what to do, we didn't want to walk to the new location or to have to Uber. Eventually we get to the second location (it's taken hours at this point) only to be told we were misinformed, our pets WERE at the first location, AND that this happens frequently. Frustrated, we ask them to call the manager to verify, and they were there the entire time. We used the bus to get back to the first USPS to find the manager had left even though via phone we said we would be getting there as soon as physically possible. We had to deal with the ride woman again. Repeatedly she cut us off saying she didn't have our packages, it wasn't until I started speaking over her, saying they are alive, and have to be checked on (our pets can go a long time in between feeding, but I was still concerned for their safety. She immediately changes tune, goes back, finds our packages very quickly, and begins yelling that now she is angry, and is going to complain to her manager. If she had followed through with checking the first time, she would have found the pets, and saved us an entire day. We had no opportunity to eat, had to carry the pets the four miles back to where we are staying. Read moreBy far the worst performing post office I have ever had to associate with. They are unprofessional, incompetent in their basic tasks and dishonest. Customer service is non-existent, never a post master available for question, comment or concern. The delivery system consistently lies about "attempted delivieries" via tracking information and has failed to deliver both packages and envelopes on several occasions to my listed residence which they delivery advertisements addressed to me nearly daily. The consistent excuse given when the front counter is questioned about missing packages or other mail, will continue to be "new driver" or "different route" or possibly "your regular driver is on vacation".
I have also had them tell me that a federal document was returned to sender, due to me moving location, though I had lived in the same location for 3 years at that time.
This particular USPS location has single handedly tarnished my faith in the entire organization. This location needs an immediate audit and new staff, top to bottom.

I kept going back and forth to check my mails there and they always said there’s no mails, 1 month came up went to check if my key was in. They said no. I’ve got a lot of important mails coming in and it said it has been delivered and went to check , they said there’s not a single mails. Got a lot of packages that said it’s delivered I went to check, NOTHING. I can’t even open my mailbox because I don’t have a key to open it.
