The owners are literally crooked. They accept more money from drug dealing guests in return for their sudden, complete blindness of their illegal activity. Cops are at the various different locations routinely. If you are late on paying for the rent even if you have attempted to let Paul or Licia know, their reply Is to shut off the water supply or electrity to your room in a hasty fashion. But then, after receiving the days payment, the speed at which they get around to turning your utilities back on isn't anywhere near the urgency they possessed when shutting them down. Once while staying there I had been forced to leave my living situation in an urgent fashion and had most of my worldly belongings in my room. I had been expecting a money transfer between my banks to clear in the later afternoon and I had ok'd it with Paul to be able to make my payment once it was deposited into my account in my bank in Fbks. Well the transfer ended up getting screwed up and it was two more days before I was able to get the money. But I got stranded that afternoon quite a bit out of Fairbanks and was not even able to get cell service where I was stuck so I was unable to inform the owners of my situation regarding both my finances and my physical location. When I was able to make it back to the room after spending the entire night in a freezing cold, broken-down vehicle I was crushed by the way I was treated. All and I mean EVERY single one of my possessions had been removed from my room by Paul and taken to his office/home and placed under lock and key to be held hostage and used as leverage to get the one day of rent that I was deliquent. I also wasn't even able to shower, warm up and/or even lay down and rest after having such a horrific, soul chilling incident that night, due to all my linens having been removed from my room also at the request of Paul or Licia. It was insanely overboard on their part. I don't really think it's even LEGAL! I would really only recommend this place if you're involved in illicit, criminal activity and need a place where a few dollars earns you a blind eye. This would be your ideal trap house! Surely as long as it's owned by crooked, fake Christian pretending, greedy propriters it will remain a favorite dump that attracts solely those lowlife criminals in need of a greed ruled owner to condone their illegal behavior., 7 gables is over priced, understaffed and what's best, frequently visited by drug dealers, hookers...

Unfortunately it ended there. I reserved the room more than 24 hours before my arrival time. When I showed up the manager stated that she could not let me stay in the room that I had reserved as a regular had called her wanting to stay there and she was going to give the room to them. She tried to get me to agree to stay in a different room (in the basement, minimal windows, half the size, smaller beds, and no large jetted tub) with the statement "Well I seen you also looked at this one so I thought it would be ok to move you". The other room was a large airy open floor plan with lots of windows. After some discussion she agreed that I could stay in a room other then the basement however it was very clear that I would not be able to stay the second reserved night nor would there be a discount for moving rooms. She stated it was the original room I had reserved however the room did not match the pictures that were included in the reservation information.
I called the management company through which I had reserved the room and their comment was that it sounded like the standard "bait and switch" that is common. However their hands are tied and the best they could do would be to process the refund for the second night if I canceled and the manager agreed to refund me.
I was able to get half my money back from the refund but it still left a bad taste in my mouth for my first experience in using home-away as site to find lodging.
My hypothesis on what happened is that the property manager seen that lodging in Fairbanks was rapidly dwindling with the events going on and seen that there was more money to be made by having me cancel my second night or move to a less desirable room and thought that it would be OK to make...
Read moreThis hotel was the worst place that I have ever stayed. It was randomly chosen for us in a hot-wire deal and when we first arrived immediately regretted the decision. The " castle" building design quickly fades away when you have to check in inside of a run down kitchen with broken appliances. The first of the two night stay we had to have someone change our sheets because they were dirty and filled with hair. The man who arrived to help do this admitted that the blankets were hardly washed and they were doing the best they could. The smell of the room was a mix of pledge and urine. Inside the closet my boyfriend spotted a used trojan box. ||The next day we left and dead bolted our door shut with out key. Upon our return we noticed that the tv that we had left off was turned on and that lights were also on. Upon going into the bathroom we saw clothing on the floor that was not ours, cigarette butts in the trash. In the kitchette our food was eaten and dishes were in the sink, our bags had been gone through. Someone had been in our room without our permission!! ||The owner was notified and she did not seem to be too bothered. I told her that I was notifying the police and she told me not to bother. She took the belongings and said that their were cameras but it would take too long to be able to watch all of the footage. ||We did notify the troopers and left the property to drive back to Anchorage a 6 hour drive at 10pm at night with no idea how someone could have gotten into our room without inside help since it was a regular key and the door was not broken into. ||Please do your self a favor and DO NOT stay here, besides being unclean and outdated it...
