Albany Area Habitat For Humanity ReStore — Attraction in Albany

First of all, we love this store. By and large most of the staff are incredible. There were two individuals however, who made me feel most unwelcome. They may have been understaffed. I lugged a large temporary mesh fencing to the front desk. It was heavy! Cashier not interested in helping me. Attitude was such I had not experienced in this particular store. My encounters have always been very pleasant. Until a few days ago. I lugged the large roll of temporary fencing to the front door. It was closed and one of the staff members had her back to me although she was at the front door. This seemed very odd behavior to me. I had to ask loudly to ask her if she would please open the front door for me so I could lug my oversized item to my car. I had to go back the next day and was dreading it. Different story- all staff exceptionally helpful and kind, as I'd always been treated. I did mention this to one of the clerks about my experience the day before. All she did tell me was yes, she has heard this before. It's a service organization. If you don't have a helping heart, don't work there. If I'd been treated the way I was the day before, I would not have been back. Very different energy from one day to the next. I will be back and hope to encounter the helpful staff I had...

First time here. My son was looking for tools. This business sells items donated to it, so it is a day by day thing on what you might find, but good browsing. There was a good variety of smaller items like hand tools and nails, and also power cords, furniture, mirrors, lamps and miscellaneous items. I use a walker so always note how easy it is to move around a location. The aisles are roomy, and were marked with directional arrows. It was also easy to enter and leave the building and get to the parking without having to lift the walker up and down curbs. However, I didn't move much further than the front of the store, I feel in love with a wooden rocking horse and stayed close by it until my son could take it to check out for me. This Restore has signs posted that you load/ unload your car yourself, other Restores will help you, not sure why this one doesn't, got to be a good reason. Can be a hit or miss, best to check often or go when they got sales going, stuff isn't as cheap as it used to be. Make sure to double check stuff before buying, recently got a toilet from there not noticing the tank and bowl connected together weren't compatible and the gasket wasn't sealing correctly. Toilet is not usable. Check what's listed on the box is actually in the box. Bought a glass shower kit thinking it was one style based on the picture they put on, but ended up being two different glasses pieces and not what was pictured. You can definitely find some killer deals here but some things are better to get at other restores in the area since they all price items differently. Lately it's been filling up with a bunch of stuff that they haven't sold over the last year or so. Definitely need to do some more...
