Terrible return policy (3 days?!), poor plant knowledge, and weak stock. Purchased a Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthos), a highly drought and heat tolerant plant. It collapsed within 3 days, which means something was wrong with the plant, and it hosted an ant colony. They were closed on the 3rd day, brought it back on the 5th day. They stated they only accept returns within 3 days, no exceptions, and they told me that it must have been the heat. Really? It wasn't hot AND it was a ignorant statement for Anigozanthos. Only a specimen that had problems to start with would collapse.
I can't recommend purchasing plants from Flowerland: (1) Return policy is ultra short - most nurseries have at least a week or more. (e.g., East Bay Nursery - 14 days, Berkeley Hort - nearly unlimited). Plant problems often crop up after 3 days! Their pricing is premium (high) so double the reason to be careful. (2) Don't seem to know their plants (3) Weak stock (at least from some suppliers)
It doesn't matter how nice a shop looks and how good the coffee is if your plants...
Read moreI am torn in this review. Flowerland is a wonderful, exciting place to visit, but I cannot recommend buying plants from here. The plants inside the little shop did not seem to have any proper care. The little plants on the ground with the caladiums were clearly very dehydrated and were wilting. The leaves were falling off the gold fish plant as I picked it up. Popular plants, like the baby monsteras, were okay as they were replaced more quickly. Many plants had broken leaves, lesions, rotting leaves that needed to be trimmed. The Philodendron Birkins had huge wet lesions. These plants are very rare and very expensive ($82.00!), and they were clearly displayed with rotting leaves. The employee assured me that the plants were healthy, but they also admittedly said that it's their first time carrying these plants. I couldn't bring myself to feel confident in buying anything from this store as many of the indoor plants they display clearly lacked...

The staff here is the best of the best! Griff and Georgia are amazing and icons here at Floweland. Griff is a Graduate of Horticulture and many of the original staff graduated from Cal Berkeley as well. These guys are passionate about plants and will happily geek out with you and answer all your questions with a smile.
Enjoy the beautiful vignettes and don't forget to look up at the gorgeous Passiflora Oaklandia which covers the top of the Pergola!!! It is simply stunning. Visit the Shed where you can pick up worm castings and other tools and feed for your garden. Spend a good part of your day then go down to Cafe Raj or Little Star pizza for a nice meal and then must visit Mr. Dewie's for an incredibly...
