Great location, Solano avenue in Albany is just a foodie's dream, with a multi-cultural selection. Parking isn't hard to find, around homes, heck the Safeway parking lot. For the restaurant aesthetic, its cozy between a laundromat & fishing store, truly melts into this small town. The interior isn't large, our 6-party group had to squish into a 4-guest table, we were able to enjoy our appetizers before another table opened up; the wonderful staff put 2 tables together for us. When the food came, they pretty much came out the same time. Some of my relatives are picky, but they enjoyed their servings. I had the Pad See Ew (with Tofu), 3 had the Ka-Boon (noodles), while my Father had Pho (for some reason). I was able to finish my mother's Ka-Boon, and the coconut milk broth was amazing, the right amount of sweet; not to much; not to little. Almost everyone finished their meal. My Father kept asking us to try his Pho, he's picky about his Pho. I was stuffed, but wanted more; of everyone's plate. Highly recommend to those who want something new, or simply loves South-East Asian cuisine. It should be familiar to those who love Thai-Food (hence Lao-Thai restaurant). Price wise I considerate it above average; not for my siblings, there was 6 of us for about $90. For my alone it was a solid average dine out,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTried this place for the first time and it was an interesting bittersweet experience. I'm Southeast Asian so I have high expectations.
The first two dishes we ordered were the Laos sausage (we asked for extra charred and crispy) and chicken wings. These two dishes were glorious. Like jaw dropping. God smacking. So packed with flavor and just so delicious. This got us really excited for our entrees.
We ordered the basil stir fry and pad kee mao and were deeply dissapointed. Right off the bat, the color was off and the taste even more so. I wanted to like these so bad since the first two dishes we ordered were so amazing.
Service was great and the place is small but homey.
I think this is what it is. They do the Laos food really well and the Thai food not so well. I think they also try to cater to a certain demographic...
I loved the first two dishes so much, I'm going to come back and try their specialties and Laos dishes, because I think that's where the magic is....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI enjoyed my dining experience quite a bit. Came on Saturday for lunch. I think itās the only day they are open for lunch.
service is amazing. So friendly and informative. It seems like she really likes her job and the customers.
Thai iced coffee was better than the Thai iced tea.
Started off with aā Specialā appetizer of salmon belly salad. Iām no salad fan but this was good. I like the dressing; forget the salmon belly.
Then the wings appetizer⦠best dish of all of them. Crispy, sweet and just the right tang and spice.
Pad see ew is my next favorite. Think stir fried noodles with veggies and beef.
Yellow curry with chicken is the good old standby. You canāt go wrong.
The only dish I did not like was the eggplant and tofu. The eggplant was overbooked which made it fall apart, yet the outer sun was really tough.
But Iāll be back again to try...
