Nestled right here in the heart of the city is a little gem that brings the rich harvests of southern New Mexico to our doorstep. This farm stand, a true embodiment of the farm-to-table ethos, is run by a family whose roots stretch deep into the fertile lands of Deming, NM. While their farm may be hours away, their dedication to bringing the freshest and most flavorful chiles to the local community makes the journey well worth it.
For years, this stand has been our go-to destination for the best chiles around. Thereâs something about the experience that keeps us coming back. From the moment you step out of your car, youâre hit with the intoxicating aroma of freshly roasted chiles that fills the airâa scent that signals both the arrival of harvest season and the promise of flavor-packed dishes ahead. The rustic charm of the stand, with its friendly, knowledgeable staff, makes every visit feel like catching up with old friends. Youâll often find the owners themselves behind the counter, ready to share a story about their farm or offer cooking tips to make the most of your purchase.
Beyond the unbeatable quality of their produce, the prices here are refreshingly fair. In a world where farm-to-table often comes with a steep price tag, this place remains grounded, offering some of the best deals youâll find for chile in the region. And the quality? Absolutely unmatched. These chiles are consistently plump, vibrant, and bursting with flavor, whether youâre buying them fresh, roasted, or dried. Weâve tried other places over the years, but nothing quite compares to the depth and richness of flavor we get here.
Whether youâre stocking up for a season of green chile stew or looking for the perfect batch of red to dry for the winter, this farm stand delivers every time. Itâs become a ritual for usâan annual pilgrimage that signals the changing seasons and keeps us connected to the rich agricultural traditions of New Mexico. For anyone serious about their chiles, or just looking to support a fantastic local business, this spot is an absolute must.    Read moreA family farm that has been in business, from my understanding, 151 years. I stopped by to get chili. đ¶ïž My nephew was coming to Albuquerque from California and asked if I would get him some Hatch chile. The time frame did not allow for me to go south, but since I was passing through San Antonio, where are the famous Owl Cafe is located, the Sickler Farm is located right across the street. I asked one of the produce stock clerks if this đ¶ïž was as good or better than the hatch chile, and of course the answer would be.... I was told that I could sample the chili for heat and they have the Extra hot, Hot, Medium and Mild. I tried sampling the Extra-hot đ„đ¶ïž first and I was immediately confronted with a fire that I would have expected from a Carolina reaper or a Trinidad scorpion (both of which I've never experienced before). Secondly I sampled a Hotđ¶ïžđ and although it made my tears and sweat flow, I was able to tolerate that heat range that would be a good salsa with tomatoes and such making for a đ tasty salsa. It is a convenient location, not far off the interstate I-25 within about a quarter mile. Clean and...
