Here is a great place overall. My husband and I love this place, so we go to Talin market pretty much every weekend. On the other hand, I am not sure about their customer service. Though most of the staff were helpful and friendly, I had an episode with a lady at the customer service desk. We bought a frozen bag of Korean fish cutlets a month ago. When we bought it, I had noticed that it would be expired in a month and that was not a problem for us. After 2 weeks after we bought it, I wanted to try it, but when I opened it, four pieces amongst eight pieces got stuck together, it was almost inseparable. I tried to thaw it, but it didn't work. So I separated them with a knife. The inner side of each piece that was cut looked really bad. It was almost dark brown color, though the bag was advertised for the cutlets to be made of white fish. Above all, the smell was awful, almost inedible. It smelled like dried anchovies. We wanted to get a customer service about this, but we had dumped our receipt. But we decided to complain because it is partially Talin Market's fault that was selling a food product that is defective to begin with. The bag was about 8 dollars when we bought it, the qualify of which was lacked and even with a possibility that could have made us sick. When we claimed about what happened to the lady at the customer service desk, she did not offer any follow-ups about our circumstances - although it was reasonable that she wouldn't provide a refund or exchange since we didn't have a receipt - but she said that Talin market is not Walmart-like, that when only we have a receipt, she would do something about it, and that we should have at least called them about what happened with a week or something like that (felt blamed). I was not seeking for any refund or exchange for the defective food product on sale that we bought at the Talin in particular (though that could have been good). I wish she could have noticed that it is their responsibility to sell products of at least non-defective food products that could have made us sick. To my perception, I felt she wanted to avoid it by just saying that we need a receipt anyway to get a customer service about their defected foods and I was not very...
Read moreThey have neat products and food from around the world, but.. the times I've gone they're dirty. I noticed some of the produce were producing mold 😨 it were gross, other produce like the turnips were very soft and something smelt not so good near the taro and onions, some bagged produce had gross looking leaves and extra liquid in the bags. Don't know what it was, but I moved on ASAP. The seafood wasn't looking the freshest really, and when I asked if some of the fish were at least fresh they did say yes then told me it's actually frozen. Fresh is not frozen, frozen is frozen, I wanted some fresh fresh fish. I get some stores can't DO that, having fresh fresh fish, but come on, don't tell me frozen fish is still fresh, I don't know how long that's been stuffed in those freezers! Whatever. They still have other things that are good, some things aren't priced, but hey at least the little tea bar has really tasty food! I don't stop by often anymore, but when I have it's not always been the cleanest, even their live tank looks dirty sometimes with dead animals still in the water for who knows how long it's been there! It doesn't take a genius to see and tell when a animal in your thanks have died. The longer a dead body lays in the water, the more it has a chance to start poisoning the water and other living creatures in the tank after a day, maybe shorter! I'd rather not take the risk getting sick. Would I have taken picture evidence to back this up about the shop? Yes, but the policy says no photos or video of the store right on the door. God forbid you break out your phone or just browse with it texting someone, they...
Read moreThis is a place where you can find unique products that aren't available anywhere else in the state; a truly massive selection of items from around the world. They have a vibrant fresh produce selection and fresh seafood market with items that you can't find at your average supermarket. Any variety of tea you could want, they probably have it. Any type of noodle, spice, or sauce that you're searching for, they probably have it too.. and if they don't, they'll look in to ordering it for you. I always get excited to come and hunt to see what new or obscure products I will find! That being said, plan to spend some serious time here shopping if you really want to see everything they have, as the store is enormous; I doubt I've ever made it in-and-out in under an hour (or more, unless I came for just a couple specific things.) Occasionally there's items without the price marked on the shelves so you'd have to ask, but that hasn't really been a negative impact on my visits. The employees and cashiers appear to be incredibly diligent in keeping the store clean, sanitizing the checkout lines and point of sale keypads in-between every transaction amid this pandemic, which is reassuring. I always have a fridge and pantry full of deliciousness after visiting here! If you want to spice up your culinary life, I HIGHLY...
