All Aboard for Deliciousness at Webb's Distillery! Hold onto your hats, folks, because I recently stumbled upon a dining experience so delightfully peculiar, I thought I was seeing double – or perhaps enjoying one too many of Webb's finest spirits a bit prematurely! Pulling into Webb's Distillery and Restaurant in Aliso Viejo, my jaw nearly hit the pavement as I observed what appeared to be a genuine train car protruding through the very front of the building. Was I hallucinating? Had the California sun finally gotten to me? Nope! It turns out, this isn't a figment of my imagination, but rather a stroke of whimsical genius. Stepping inside, the other half of that very same train car comfortably resides within the restaurant, fully air-conditioned and boasting all the indoor conveniences one could wish for. No need to fret about missing your stop or a sudden departure; this train is delightfully stationary, happily absorbing the bustling ambiance of the "eating and drinking emporium." It’s an inviting and interestingly decorated space, proving that sometimes, the best way to get people in the door is to literally put a train through it! For my culinary journey, I opted for a blackened salmon taco salad-like entree, and let me tell you, it was a flavor express! With perfectly seasoned tortilla strips, robust black beans, fresh pico de gallo, and crisp salad greens, every bite was a delicious destination. The salmon was on the small size. And for those of us who prefer to keep our wits about us (or just enjoy a good brew), the freshly brewed iced tea was a standout – definitely not an afterthought, a refreshing change from places where non-alcoholic options feel like a grudging concession. My only minor quibble, and it's a head-scratcher for an establishment of this caliber, is the curious absence of any non-alcoholic beer. Come on, OC bar scene, it's 2025! Let's get with the program! Beyond the delightful train spectacle and tasty grub, Webb's gets top marks for the essentials. The restaurant and restroom facilities were spotlessly clean and well-stocked, as any discerning diner would expect. Parking is free, a rare and welcome amenity in our neck of the woods, and the sports TVs were exceptionally sharp and strategically placed for prime viewing around the bar. All aboard for a return visit? You bet your caboose I'll be back for another meal soon! Webb's Distillery isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience, a quirky, delicious, and utterly...
Read moreCame here last night with friends to celebrate my birthday. We had stumbled upon this place a few weeks ago and finally were able to make it in. The ambiance was beautiful and the music was great, but they could benefit from turning down the volume. Not the greatest fun having to almost yell with your own party to say anything. There was a great mix of people; young, older, families, singles which I really appreciate. The staff from the beginning to the end were really kind and went out of their way to accommodate us as much as they could. One huge downgrade on the stars; we were told the wait was an hour and probably wouldn’t even be that long, but it ended up an hour and 45 minutes. Next time we will use the wait list system online but we didn’t know about it bc honestly it’s not promoted. While we waited they actually had a waitress come out and order some snacks for us and we went into their little shop to try some of their drinks. Their beer is amazing! I’m not an IPA gal but Webbs changed my mind! Both their IPA and blonde were great. Their goat cheese wontons were amazing! We got to sit inside the train for dinner which was an amazing experience, my baby especially loved looking around at everything inside.
When we were finally seated, we had a hard time ordering. The menu is a bit eclectic and with two pages we kept flipping back and forth not really knowing what we wanted. Our food was either really good or average, there didn’t seem to be much consistency. The food did come out lighting fast which we were surprised considering how packed they were. The waitress was sweet and brought me the birthday dessert which was fantastic!
In all honesty, I would give this place 3.5 stars. The wait time being quoted at an hour and then going a lot over was not great. The music is far too loud and the food/menu need a good tweaking. I did really like the ambience, the service and...
Read moreSo. I heard about this place and listened to all the raves about it. So I headed over the other day to try their loved and famous pastrami sandwich. 🫢. I ordered the pastrami and a side of fries and it comes with coleslaw - which of course it does.
It was an attractive sandwich. Restaurant staff get an A+ for the business. A+ for service as well. But that sandwich was the worst pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had.
My 1st bite told the whole story. It tasted like salty roast beef. I had heard about the pickles and even that was kinda disappointing. The bread looked great but felt like greasy oil toasted bread.
The roast beef was chewy and rubbery. And everything was super salty. The coleslaw wasn’t bad…. But I’ve never had such vinegary coleslaw. And I love Filipino food with cebu style vinegar.
It’s a very cool spot that does a great job on the look and displays. There is a caboose in the front side of the building for a fun experience.
I did research later with other folks who visited and there were lots of happy folks who loved their vodka and other drinks.
It’s a new place that undoubtably is working very hard at finding the right footing as a new hot and popular spot.
Truth be told I imagine most folks would not care about a pastrami sandwich being more of a chewy roast beef.
But for me…. I travel far and wide to find a truly delicious pastrami sandwich that exceeds my expectations.
In conclusion I wholeheartedly endorse this place as a great place to hang with friends. Great seating and a very cool vibe.
FYI it’s next to the huge law enforcement facility —- so DO NOT try to drink and drive. They are literally just around the next building.
Plus I do enjoy being part of that family name. Webb is after all, a pretty cool...
