Urbane Cafe — Restaurant in Aliso Viejo

I've been to this location multiple times, but I have to say the quality and experience is going downhill with each visit. First of all, I had to wait several minutes in a nearly empty restaurant for my order to be taken. They were incredibly stingy on everything. My side salad was half the size as normal, the extra sauce I asked for (which now, by the way, you have to pay for) was at most a teaspoon (and they used to completely fill up the little side cup in all previous visits), the cheese on my child's cheese pizza was sparse and the kids fruit cup had about half as much fruit as normal, there was barely any avocado on my sandwich - just all around NOTICEABLE stinginess. The other entree we ordered was asked to be prepared warmed and it came out cold and dry. The meat didn't even cover the sandwich, and the sauce was also sparse and flavorless. We are long-time customers (over 16 years across many locations in Southern California) and we notice a difference! Had this been my first time visiting an Urbane Cafe, I'm not sure I would...

I’ve been to urbane cafe before and love it, however when I came to this location it was disappointing. No one was at the front to greet me and as I was standing there waiting I noticed how messy it was behind the counter where they make the sandwiches. A girl who walked in told the person in the back I was waiting, so he came out to take my order. He had gloves on that had already been used for something and he put his other glove back on, I could tell it was used already… I felt like that was pretty gross , they’re usually supposed to put fresh gloves on especially if they were in the back doing something. And then I saw him carrying containers from the Back to the front with the same pair of gloves on and he was putting his hands in the containers holding food. I really felt nauseous at this point and didn’t even want to eat my food anymore so I just didn’t finish...

We’ve ordered catering from this place many times before and never had any problems. However, it seems like the person handling catering might have changed. Our order today (large and small Share the Love Packages) was missing all the drinks and about 60% of the chips. The restaurant didn’t make much effort to resolve the issue and told us we could come and pick up the missing items. Since we already paid for delivery, this response was frustrating...if we wanted to pick up the order ourselves, we wouldn’t have chosen delivery in the first place...
