I am utterly disgusted by what I witnessed yesterday at Spirit Park. What was supposed to be a beautiful evening where our community comes together to enjoy soccer, football, and other activities was marred by an outrageous act of exclusion. Over 300 children, families, and community members were unceremoniously kicked off the field to make way for a small group of cricketers.
Let me be clear: I have nothing against cricket or those who play it. Every sport deserves its space and respect. But what happened yesterday was a blatant disregard for our community. The fact that the City of Allen would prioritize a tiny group of cricketers over hundreds of our community members—many of them children—is beyond comprehension.
What makes this even more infuriating is that Spirit Park is supposed to be a shared space, open to everyone on specific days. Yet, when the cricketers showed up, a simple call to the City of Allen was enough to displace hundreds of people. The sheer arrogance of this action is appalling. It’s as if the City of Allen values the needs of a few over the enjoyment and rights of the many.
I am deeply disturbed by the way our community was treated. The sight of young athletes being forced off the field, their faces filled with confusion and disappointment, was nothing short of heartbreaking. We deserve better than this. The City of Allen must seriously reconsider how it manages these public spaces to ensure that this kind of incident does not...
Read moreThis park just opened in October 2018 and is every kid's dream! It is beautifully designed with one amazing play structure that is very high and multi level, surrounded by many other play structures that are lower to the ground. The big kids love climbing and running in the structure, but there is plenty to do with your little ones as well. My son is 4 and can get around the large structure just fine. This park sits in the middle of large mature trees, towards the back of the 4 new baseball fields on Ridgeview. We were there yesterday (Sunday afternoon) and there were probably 50+ kids there and it didn't feel crowded at all. Pack snacks and water because your kids will be spending hours here. (They do have water...
Read moreMy kids love this park although they lose interest after about to 30-40 minutes. The one thing that would make it better is a long zip line, they could spend hours on those. This park is good for ages 5-10 or younger if not afraid of climbing. Older kids can enjoy it but will lose interest faster. Restrooms are at the ballpark if it's not gated. Recommend to come in the morning or midday otherwise some mosquito repellent can be used, they just seem to bother me more here than other parks. Overall it's a nice tall setup unlike any thing...
