I was somewhat disappointed with the service I received from Allentown Appliance. I ordered all new kitchen appliances plus a washer and dryer last fall. (Kitchen Renovation) As we all know, Covid put delays on manufacturing and shipping, so we waited quite a bit for our appliances. I know that the manufacturing and shipping delays were not the fault of Allentown Appliance.
Before expressing my disappointment, I will say upon talking to Al in December, he did provide me with a loaner oven/stove so I would be able to cook at bake at Christmas, since that appliance was not going to arrive on time. This is the type of customer focus I expected based on the recommendations I had received that led me to make my purchase here.
What I was disappointed with was their lack of proactiveness. I would have thought that with all of the delays, they would have made regularly scheduled update calls or emails just to stay in contact with their customers. Each month I had to call them to get an update. The update was often "it looks like 4 weeks, but no guarantees." Month after month. Once I called about the final appliance we were waiting on, and was told they had 9 coming in, and the orders would be filled in order, so if I was among the first 9 on their list of 36 people waiting, I would get a call. When I asked, I was told she could not see where I was on the waiting list. I did get the feeling when I called in a few times that we had been bumped down the line. And as I read the reviews here, it seems like there are many happy customers who, despite all the delays I experienced, had limited delays.
I don't expect to need a new appliance anytime soon, since we have replaced them all. So, I cannot say if I would shop here again or recommend them without...
Read moreWe purchased a top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher in June 2024. We had two major incidents with the dishwasher which resulted in water damage to our basement ceiling. We contacted Allentown appliance in November 2024 which was within our warranty window. The technician informed us we needed to use a different detergent and that’s why it leaked. We switched detergents and a couple weeks later, another leak. Allentown Appliance again sent out a technician who this time determined that the dishwasher had a manufacture defect and should not have passed inspection to be sold. It had created a slow leak for the past six months into our finished basement. After several phone calls with Allentown Appliance and KitchenAide to request a new dishwasher, we were repeatedly met with the warranty between the two companies only covered parts (for us, the entire tub). Without being given any other option by Allentown Appliance, we ended up settling to have the defective part replaced and scheduled a time for installation (a month later). A week before installation, we received a phone call from Allentown Appliance and was informed the part arrived damaged and they had to cancel our scheduled appointment. They needed to order the part again and could not give an approximate new installation date. At this point we informed Allentown Appliance that we will not purchase another item from them. The employee stated, “I don’t blame you, I wouldn’t either”. Our family has been customers of Allentown Appliance for over 25 years. We have moved twice in the last five years and have bought all of our new appliances from them. This customer service is appalling and disappointing. We nor our family and friends will use Allentown...
