One of the most incredible places I have ever been asked to sing at is the Paramount theater in Anderson Indiana! The crowds were amazing at times! I had been asked there to sing probably about six times by my friend skip Ockoman when I was in Anderson Indiana! This theater is over 100 years old, and when you look up in the ceiling when you're in the audience it is absolutely phenomenal it looks like you're looking at the night sky with stars! I wish ceilings in my apartment looked like this! It was a phenomenal experience and I've still got a CD from it! They will actually make you a CD of your performance and someone encouraged me to get one so I did get one! I haven't watched it yet because that's not important to me right now during a pandemic! Helping homeless people is important right now to me! I will never forget this place in Anderson Indiana truly historical and Beautiful on the inside when you see that ceiling it's like you're looking into heaven it is so beautiful and it was an honor to be a part of some of the singers of Anderson Indiana and now my home in Boston with other singers truly a blessing it was then and truly a blessing it is now here in Boston and also as a songwriter on YouTube and a new book author here in Boston my God is so good he rescued me from years of homelessness all I had to do was trust him and put my faith in him and he would come through he has never let me he has never let me down the closer I am in relationship with him daily through prayer praise and just talking to him makes it so enjoyable to talk to my God daily because he will talk back to your spirit and let you know that he's there once you have Christ in your heart you will never regret it! Am I perfect no far from it but I know I'm forgiven and I appreciate my talk with Jesus daily, Everyday! God bless you all and be...
Read moreThis place is absolutely gorgeous. In town on a business trip with my girlfriend and as always, I research the town I am staying in so I can learn a bit of its history and perhaps explore some of the notable sights. During this I quickly feel in love with this theater so I made it a point for us to take a trip here.
While photographing the outside of the theater, a nice gentleman who had been a twice retired band director got to talking to us and graciously got us inside to look around where we then met another pleasant gentleman, Jerry, who then gave us a grand tour complete with some historic facts. We saw the Grand Ballroom that was very spacious and perfect for events. It came complete with a small performance stage.
The real gem is the inside of the theater. The ceiling painted with a night sky and complemented by blinking stars, surrounded by spanish inspired architecture made for a wonderful, almost spiritual feeling as the symphony practiced. Definitely the nicest historic theater I have ever visited. Alot of restoration and money was put into this theater and I was sad to witness and also have confirmed by the two gentleman that the surrounding area was not the best.
I would like to thank these two men for their time and knowledge and it really made my night to be able to take this tour inside of the theater. Thank you to the both of you and I do hope I can return in the near future and enjoy a show here. I live three hours away so it's not an easy trip. But I have my fingers crossed that I will return. This gem is clearly the anchor of the downtown and the city needs to do all they can to bring more business and events to the surrounding area and preserve the theatre right down the road and perhaps create an arts district. Your downtown has...
Read moreI'm really mixed on this joint. Yes, the theater is luxe eye candy for sure. Initially I was wowed. Tho the deco was a tad pretentious with excess details for my personal taste. A bit overly ornate. But yes, gorgeous. The ceiling fresco n stars are the best part by far. Bein an antique theater u already know the seats are gonna be tight n uncomfortable. And boy are they. The longer u sit, the more painful they become. We were in the mezzanine on a 100° weekend. The AC could not keep up at all. It was really uncomfortable. The seatbacks literally slant forward for some reason, forcing u to lean to the front. There is negligible padding. The women next to me was quite large n was unable to contain her whole person to the tight compartment o her seat. It was unpleasant. I'm all for leaving antiques intact. However, after enduring these conditions for a cpl hours it was to the point I would not return to this venue. Surely SOMETHING can be done to maintain the original glory yet update it to be more comfortable since folks are no longer 5'5 n 120 lbs...
