Riverside suana and spa in Annandale is a golden charm! Sadly I heard it got sold and transferred to another owner , though I started coming here where the original owners were on board… nothing negative but I will say things have changed a little . The stock of there products have changed … they had some cool things that they would try on the spa side for purchase and I didn’t see it out again. Maybe we need to restock . I come from Alexandria to defrag.. and yesterday was my bday so I decided to pamper my self today! It’s Monday a slow day and I love it ! I had the Felix package which includes scrub and massage , a mask and a warm milk finish! Leaving your skin so smooth . The treatment was great , the massage could of been better but I had a 7 pm start so therapist was probably a bit tired (they work hard ) besides the massage being a 7 from 10 the scrub and the services was just pampering enough! I’m a spadddieee, and I’ve been conditioned enough to know good and good enough to at review . The service was $130 plus I gave her a $40 tip , appreciate the hard work . This body works hard and pampering is much needed. The spa also has a beautiful small Resturant that I love ! And a smoothie bar that you can order food and drinks(non alcoholic) your detoxing! 😂! I got the #18 mama Mia! Clear noodles in a spicy broth with shredded meat and stringy mushroom , strips of egg and a kick of spice that will clear you up! Not to mention all the great sides they give you ! White rice 🍚, soybeans sprouted which that was a first with a dash of sesame it felt , kimchi my fav and imitation crabmeat spiced in what felt like fish sauce with a splash of fermented something add a side of macaroni sweetened salad 🥗 it was amazing ! I also tried there fried dumplings 🥟 yeah I’m a foodie too! My son is becoming a chef!! Jeje I love food!! And I love to write about these dishes in my mouth! 👄 now the best part of the dumpling are how fresh and how the sides like fresh soy sauce I believe with fermented dankon I believe it yellow in color ! Sweet and tart at the same time just enough to refresh your palate ! Oh la la mama diner ! Your the best ! Plus she cooks it fresh! Thank you for a wonderful meal and a great spa day ! I was able to detox my body from last week work week in the salt room and the other great dry room and I was able to used the awesome steam room with a matcha infused twist that allow for my body to feel at its most relax!! Close those pores with a last call shower! They also proved tools for blow drying your hair ! Thank you ! Had an amazing spa bday journey! Can’t wait till the next journey! Definitely recommend! I will say one of the most clean spas in Annadale! That is what keeps me coming...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Parkside Spa on Saturday morning at about 9:30 AM. We checked in with both of us receiving our “uniforms” and I receiving three small towels. More information on the towels later.
We changed into our uniforms and met in the coed section of the spa. The spa is beautiful with several different seating options. We tried out both poultice rooms, clay and Himalayan salt. The temperature of both rooms was about 158-160 degrees. There was also a cold room. The coed section also includes a juice bar and restaurant.
After drinking a mango smoothie, I headed to the locker room to try out the pools and saunas. The male locker room includes several showers, a hot tub, a cold plunge pool, a dry sauna and a steam sauna. There are also several lounge chairs and two massage tables for scrubs. Several grooming items are also provided including razors, lotion shampoo, shower gel, hair dryers, etc.
We had lunch at Mom’s Diner, that included a Kimchi pancake, fried dumplings, milk tea and Sikhye, a Korean rice drink. After lunch we headed to our individual locker rooms for some more time in the pools and saunas before getting dressed to leave at 2:30 PM.
At this point we had experienced the perfect spa day. Unfortunately both of us had unpleasant experiences before we left. My wife observed another woman showering with her underpants on. As with most Korean spas, nudity is required in the wet area of the locker room. The attendant was on her mobile phone and wasn’t paying attention or enforcing the rules. I had an issue with the towels that I mentioned earlier. I was given three towels when I was given my uniform. No one told me that men are only allowed three small towels for the entire visit. I’ve visited several Korean spa and this is the first time that I’ve experienced this policy. With men and women having different towel policies (women can use as many towels as needed), I would have expected a cheaper admission price.
Overall we had a good experience at Parkside Spa, but I wish that they would fix the issues that I...
Read moreNo fuss boutique spa. I came Sunday on Christmas Eve at 10:45am. The parking and check-in was easy. I didn’t have a reservation by the way. Inside the private women’s spa area there are two small jacuzzis (one ice cold and one hot), one steam room and one dry sauna. The jets weren’t running and one of the patrons told me about half an hour after there I could request them to turn them on. There were two workers were busy at the body scrub tables. Eventually I poked around outside and found the knob to turn the jets on. I used all the areas in the womens spa except for the body scrub because I have braids. I thought the price was reasonable and would consider it in the future.
I booked the shiatsu massage for 12pm and they were ready for me at 11:35am which was a bit earlier than I would have liked but it seemed like they wanted to take me sooner. The room was not as quiet because it was right by the open area co ed space. I liked the lower body part of the massage but the upper body felt rushed. The oil massage is only on the back also. She finished 6min early too.
There are two saunas in the open area co-ed space. I used one and got a good sweat. I also liked the relaxation stations where I enjoyed an ice matcha on the couch for a bit. I also noticed they had a sign for a 30min foot massage for $50 if folks prefer it.
I went back to the womens private spa area after the massage to use the steam room again and the lady who gave me a massage reminded me to tip her which I thought was odd but I told her that I already planned to do so. Also I used both the standing and sitting shower areas and they were clean!
Overall I would come back because it’s nearby. I stayed for 3.5hrs and it was $30 for the spa, $120 for the massage including the tip, and $7 for the matcha. My friend and her mom came and thought it was a good experience but said they wouldn’t come with a group because it would be overwhelming. I...
