I dont mind the expensive pricing because I like to support smaller businesses but it was my first time going in and it will probably be my last.
The two workers working the morning/afternoon Saturday shift on Aug 26th, 2023 were not very pleasant or nice.
The gentleman helping us seemed irritated and after taking my first order of 1 scoop on a cake cone for my neice, I also needed to get a strawberry shake for my boyfriend. The employee seemed bothered that I had another request.
I dont know this for a fact but it sounded like he slammed something on the counter too - out of frustration, right after I asked for the shake.
I was going to order a freeze but i didn't know what a freeze was and didn't want to ask the workers because they already seemed annoyed with us being in so I didn't get anything for myself.
The female employee helped ring us up and she was verbally pleasant but did not have any smile on her face - again, saying what you need to say so that it qualifies as "service" but obviously bothered.
I couldn't wait to get out of there - I wanted to leave so bad I almost forgot we had to wait for the shake.
Asked my bf how his shake was and he said, "idk...its ok....but the service was so bad I don't even think I can enjoy this now....its like the bad attitude seeped into the ice cream..."
What bugs me the most is that it was not busy AT ALL when we went in. There were NO other customers - its not like there was a rush but these 2 employees made it seem like we were bothering them - I'm sorry, I get it, I've worked in customer service too, but that's just it; you are in customer service.
On top of that, we weren't even loud or rude - there really was no reason to be so bland and irritated with us.
I think we spent about 3-5 minutes in the store and it felt like forever.
Would love to come back and give the business another try but this encounter makes me want to stay away.
My neice enjoyed her ice cream so that's my 2...
Read moreThis place has been around a few years now and I honestly regret not trying it sooner. It's got an old time ice cream parlor feel to it and the ice cream they have is a rich decadent treat. The flavors change from time to time but they always have a gluten free, dairy free and versions of vanilla and chocolate. My favorite ice cream so far is the horchata with the store made waffle cones (which have a malted milk ball in the bottom so it won't drip!)
People who follow my reviews know that I rarely give out 5 stars but between the quality and friendliness of the mom and pop ice cream shop who gets their ice cream from another mom and pop shop, it's a real treat and for those reasons I would be letting the place down by giving the best ice cream in Anoka and surrounding areas (and probably in Minnesota save for anyone else who gets ice cream from the same mom and pop operation).
You will know the owner when you see him, he will always make a point of saying hi and ask you how things are going, and he seems genuine about it which as jaded as I am is really saying something.
The ice cream isn't fat free and if you are counting calories you are gonna want to save them up for this treat, it's very satisfying ice cream and with the samples you can have you should be able to find a...
Read moreCashier was unable to process my payment via visa card. They had 2 employees on staff and the manager appeared to be of high school age and she was helpless as fas as resolving the issue. I looked up my balance directly in front of said manager, showing her my acct and the presence of sufficient funds to no avail. My son and I had ordered ice creams which were all but completely melted by the time I said forget it and paid cash. The young girl managing suggested that I leave her my cell phone or drivers license and write down my number so they could attempt to collect the balance ($7) at a later date. I declined, disgruntingly paid cash and do not plan on revisiting. I think when the employees running the store were unable to process my payment, they should have given it to me for free before asking me to leave my $600+ cell phone or my drivers license over $7 ice cream. I had stopped by to treat my son while in town and it was a time consuming and frustrating experience. I don't blame the young employees, but I do suggest having a staff member capable of making judgement calls on duty at all times. Despite all, I know their ice cream is delicious when...
