CompuGuru4u — Attraction in Apex

Another update: We moved out of Apex at the end of 2016, and are planning a visit back there and I am so happy to see CompuGuru still in business. Believe me, after living in several other areas and having 'computer specialists' ending up doing more damage than help, I think that Tushar is the best and nicest computer repair person I have ever encountered.

Update, now it is a third time. This time, son's laptop was dying, giving 'blue screens of death' at ever more frequent intervals. Thanks to Compuguru, his laptop is now updated with a new hard drive, has Windows 7 installed, and is working at top speeds again. Money it cost was well-spent to keep this laptop functioning rather than having to invest in a new one!

Second time he has come to my rescue! This time it was my desktop that basically stopped functioning. He was able to fix the problem and also upgraded me from Vista to Windows 7 for an extremely reasonable price, and saved and restored all my essential items. When I went to pick it up, he also took the time to guide me through several of the new features and showed me what the best way to back up my files is so that I will always be able to retrieve my necessary data. I called CompuGuru to get estimate to replacing my 2012 iMac's hard drive. He is very professional and helped answer all my questions and complexity around fixing the machine . Although I must say estimate was too high , Just Labor estimate was $450 + parts. For second opinion I took my iMac to Apple store, they fixed it for under $200 ( 79 Labor + 112 parts + tax ) . So I will shop around for sure.

Updated on Apr 3. Just wanted to update ... After posting my earlier review , I got a call from the owner explaining misunderstanding and wanted me to take down/update my review. When I called for the quote I was clear as to what I was looking for "to replace the failing hard drive with new one". When I reached out I stated that I have Time Capsule backup so no need to restore or salvage files. He did suggest new options of using SSD. Although it would not work for me as they were expensive and offered less storage, So we dropped the idea and stick HDD drive. In the end, He quoted me $450 + part which I thought was expensive to just replace hdd . Any how It worked out...

“Don’t cry over spilled milk” as the saying goes, but does not hold true when the milk is split on your laptop. Thanks to Compu Guru4u for helping, even though was not able to save my laptop he (Tushar) was able to save all my very important information from the laptop allowing for a clean transfer to my new one. This was so important as at the time I was transitioning into retirement and so much critical non-backed-up data was on my laptop. Yes, once again Tushar helped me out where my wife’s laptop would not detect our home network even though it could see my phone hotspot and my neighbor’s network. The laptop (Windows 10) kept failing at software updates, in attempt to upgrade wireless adapter driver. Took the laptop to Compu Guru4u and it was determined that I had a bad/incompatible hard-drive installed (refurnished laptop). Hard-drive replaced and Windows updated to Window 11 as Window 10 support will end in 2025. Thank You Compu Guru4u (Tushar), good to know you are there...
