The Fire Arts Center is a studio cooperative where a lot of student and amateur ceramic and glass artists work. Cooperative spaces are challenging to work in in many ways, but this arts center is doing a fabulous job. I don't know who is responsible for seeing to that, but I hope they live forever.
Also, there is tons of artists work for sale for very reasonable prices. Being amateur, there is always something a little "off" about most of the pieces. On the other hand, there is a level of care, attention, and creativity in each piece that is superior to anything you'd find produced professionally. For me, that's is well worth the purchase. Read moreA really great little artist run studio and gallery space. A decent collection of local artists' work, both functional and decorative. Reasonable prices, friendly proprietors, a lot of fun to shop. The artists participate in an outdoor show the first Saturday of every month in downtown Eureka, and the second Friday of every month in downtown Arcata.
The studio also offers classes which I unfortunately did not have a chance to check out. Will definitely return.
