It's a nice store and they have plenty of stuff, but prices are mostly high to me. I'm NOT talking about cloths, as I haven't done that there. I've been going for many years and yes the other reviews are correct prices have gone up; I'm thinking that's why they always have stuff. There are still some deals, but mostly if it's not a sale day on what you like, it's too high, and sometimes even on the sale days it's still too high. It's frustrating to a thrift shopper to see something you would have bought, if it was a deal, sit there for months and often end up missing pieces, or broken from being looked at/messed with. Of course with my luck that would be something I would buy, if it's something that hit a niche for me; then later, when I try to use it, I find that it's missing pieces and/or broken. Then, it's how long has it been, and where might the receipt be? They test stuff, but not all functionality. Some things just say power tested, but they don't have a testing station or place. They used to let you plug stuff in, but I don't know if that's still the case, or not. I think much of the best stuff goes on ebay, or other online auctions. There is some stuff behind the sales person on one register, but I can't see any of that with my glasses on. Sales seem to tend to 15-30% now, where they used to be 50% more often.
Furniture is astronomical to me, but if they move it, then I guess it's not. I don't pay that much attention, but I think they do sell it, so it wouldn't be an issue for them.
If they get enough turn around, then I guess it's working for them, but I do see stuff sit there for months at a time.
Price Examples: I bought a hose for my toilet for $5. The checker was really nice, but said something like "isn't this a good deal". I said "not really, but it'll save me a trip". I did feel a little bad as she looked a bit crestfallen. I just looked on Homedepot website and it's $5.25 there), were it's easier to return, and although it was new, the tag looks worn. Normally, I would think like $2-3(okay deal) dollars at most or if lucky $.50-2.00 (good-great deal), not $5 from a thrift store. I don't think they understand that thrift shoppers aren't looking for something specific, most of the time. They are browsing for deals. 80% of new, isn't much of a deal, and if you weren't really needing it, then it'll be a no. I would normally expect prices 20-50% of new, for (okay to good) deals, then you might pick it up, even if not urgent. The 50% would be more sought after stuff, that's not on sale new, much because it doesn't have to be. Most items shouldn't be that high for used i.e. 80+%. There is a nice looking spice rack from the container store; it still has the clearance sticker on it for 31.XX from them, but they have it marked at 29.XX, its missing two spice jars. On the website it's towards 50 new and complete. Maybe someone will buy it, but even if I wanted it (I don't), I wouldn't pay that. I would imagine ~$20 would be a decent deal, but nothing to write home about, but if your not going to do that, then I would suggest removing the clearance tag that shows that you didn't mark it down from the original store much.
Lastly, everyone at the register is very nice....

Treasure your children and raise them with morals, ethics, manners and hard work and don't be afraid to spank them or you will end up like so many of these seniors today who spent more time attention and talent building up a treasure chest and not remembering the day their baby was born and placed on their chest for the first time..... Or it'll be a crying shame you'll only have yourself to blame! Like why your daughter is at Arlington Resale getting her prenatal check up thanks to some very generous tax deductible donations that keep her out of the public eye until she has the baby at JPS

Read moreMy family and I have been shopping here for years and recently the prices have become outrageous. I was in the store today and could not believe what I saw. It seems that almost everything in the store is marked up to what it would be brand new at a retailer. This store gathers its goods from donations and is now selling the items at large retail prices. This store wears created to help families who can’t afford the big box store prices get what they need but now it’s become the complete opposite. Yes some things are marked reasonably but majority of the items are way too expensive taking into consideration they are used items and most of the time they are not in brand new, pristine condition. Management really needs to reevaluate the store and turn it back to the store we once loved and couldn’t want to...
