“Hey You Guy’s” In the heart of Astoria, Oregon, nestled amidst the whispers of the Pacific and the echoes of laughter from yesteryear, lies a beacon of nostalgia for those who grew up with eyes wide, hearts ablaze, seeking adventure in the mundane. It's here, in this unassuming neighborhood, that the house from The Goonies, a film that captivated the imaginations of countless '80s children, stands as a testament to the spirit of adventure and the boundless curiosity of youth. The local residents, stewards of this cinematic treasure, exhibit a generosity that's as heartwarming as it is rare, allowing strangers from across the globe to momentarily step into a world where the lines between fantasy and reality blur. With well-placed signage guiding visitors from the streets to this iconic dwelling, the community's embrace of this piece of movie history is commendable, reflecting a shared understanding of its significance. For those of us who journeyed with Mikey, Data, and the rest of the Goonies, seeking our own One-Eyed Willys and hidden treasures in the backyards of our childhoods, this place is more than a location—it's a pilgrimage back to a time when anything seemed possible. Data, with his inventive genius, particularly resonated with me, reminding us all that with a bit of ingenuity and a dash of courage, the extraordinary lies just within our grasp. The Oregon Film Museum, mere steps from the Goonies' house, extends this journey through cinematic history, offering more than just a glimpse into the making of this beloved film. It's a celebration of the state's rich filmic tapestry, a place where stories leap off the screen and into our hearts. To visit Astoria and these landmarks is to pay homage to a film that taught us the value of friendship, the thrill of discovery, and the beauty of dreaming big. It's a reminder that adventure awaits, not just in the movies, but in the very fabric of our lives, if only we're brave enough to seek it out. So to the neighbors, homeowners, and the town of Astoria, I extend a heartfelt thank you for keeping the flame of adventure alive. Your hospitality ensures that the spirit of The Goonies will continue to inspire not just those who remember it from their youth, but generations to come. And to those who make the journey, consider a donation, a simple gesture of gratitude for the memories preserved and the dreams yet to be discovered. 💕🏴☠️ “Goonies never say die”🏴☠️💕

I want to give this 5 stars so bad just for the nostalgia! Goonies is one of my favorite movies, has been since I was in middle school. We made it a point to stop in Astoria during our Oregon road trip, and the jail was our first stop. There was a line right away which confused me at first, it was a Thursday morning in July. Once inside, I realized there is a line because the museum is essentially just 2 rooms in the downstairs of the building. It's still a really cool thing to do, especially because the tickets are very cheap ($6)! There's a mix of Goonies stuff along with quotes and memorabilia from other movies filmed in Astoria. Essentially 1 room is a green screen area you can film in (we didn't do this as we are both camera shy) and then the other room are the jail cells but seen from 2 different sides. They were filled with neat things, and I'm so glad we went, but it was pretty underwhelming. We were in there for probably less than 10 minutes total. The gift shop was neat! I ended up forgetting my hoodie in our airbnb (we were staying in Portland where it was 90 degrees and Astoria was about 60 degrees), so I bought one at the gift shop because I knew I needed to leave with something. I got the green pullover hoodie, and that was about $50, which I think is pretty normal for a gift shop hoodie. If you are a Goonies fan, this is an absolute must-see! Just don't plan on carving out too much time for it.

What a gas!! We had so much fun here. Take the time to pay the suggested $6 fee ($16 gets you a family pass) and they will provide you with a QR-coded "Set Pass" that will allow you to record yourselves and your friends on professional equipment with real movie props and a green screen from Point Break, The Shining, Goonies (filmed right here in Astoria) and a few others. Go when it isn't crowded if you can because if you aren't familiar with the movie set experience it can take a bit to figure out how it works and get your take "in the can" quickly, but we had so much fun working the movie scenes and "takes" and just playing with the whole scene!! Worth every penny!! Lots of local references including addresses of the houses used in the film (though the current owner of the actual Goonies house isn't welcoming of visitors) and the whole museum is set on the actual used jail from Astoria. Lots of props and pictures from the movie, even a pirates treasure to find inside!! We had a blast!!

What an experience whether your a Goonies fan or not! This little museum won us over with all the fun Goonies trivia and Jail scene, and MORE SO with the interactive move making exhibit. We made movie clips from a classic Fratelli car chase scene, a classic scene from The Shining, and even Kindergarten Cop “It’s nota tumah!” So much fun! The whole fam had a blast. Hot Tips: *The gift shop has a lot of fun options for Goonies memorabilia. *You park towards the center of the downtown and walk over to the museum. We had no issue finding parking. *The location of Mikey’s house aka the Goonies house is 368 38th Street and a short drive from the museum. *The scene with chunk spilling his milkshake in the intro of the movie as the bowling that is walking distance from the museum. *Go to Spotify and type in Fratelli Car Chase and then press play while on the way to the Museum. *Fort George Brewing is great option for lunch or dinner. Lots of veggie options and the pizza was really good.

It was a blast! Ask for help doing the movie clips because there are backgrounds for them you can program the camera for B-4 you film but can't add them afterwards, which we didn't know. Wish the directions had been more clear, like a HAND OUT DIRECTIONS SHEET to follow so you could do it right without finding out afterwards of the other background options! Really good people who work there. Fun stuff like t-shirts and sweatshirts in the Souvenir shop! Please don't leave any surprises in the jail cell toilets. Just saying. You can have your mug shot taken, although some might not find that very entertaining. . . . I personally liked seeing what movies were partially filmed in Oregon. The Black Stallion, One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Twilight, An Officer and a Gentleman, THE GOONIES!!

Its an amazing location, and as soon as you see it youll know its from the goonies and get excited. The fratellis black orv is in the front with the bulletholes the size of matzah balls, it an amazing concept and looks great on the outside. But what it actually is is extremely underwhelming. There's some film facts and random little ploys to oregon movies, but not super crazy. If your a big fan of the goonies, i reccomend you still go in because they have cool stuff like the original cell of "you smuck. You really think id be stupid enough to kill myself?", as well as the David statue chunk drops, the doubloon, copper bone and some other movie props. But if goonies isnt at the top of your lists, then I suggest just stopping by to see the car.
