Not sure where all the great reviews are coming from. Maybe people don't care about the state of the this theatre, which is really showing wear and tear and a real lack of cleanliness.
My last visit, was a pretty awful experience.
Needless to say, despite the Galaxy being one of the newest theaters in the county, we found the entire theatre pretty throughly disgusting - to the point we will likely not return to this location ever again.
For a Saturday evening, there's hardly any staff available that can do anything. Tried to find someone, and gave up. They guy who was handling tickets disappeared, and there was nobody at the concession. Ended up just going back to my seat upset about the experience, vowing not to return.
On a previous visit, approximately a month prior, I came by myself to see Furious 8 for a D-Box showing. Similar experience however so the above applies in addition to the red D-Box seats were heavily stained. It’s like they had never been cleaned. When I arrived I noticed ALL the D-Box seats were in the same filthy condition.
It’s not like this theatre was busy either time - there’s no excuse. There were maybe a dozen people attending the showing we were at, I couldn’t say about the other theaters at the same location, but overall there were no lines for concessions and overall it didn’t seem like there were a lot of patrons; probably because they realized this place is pretty disgusting to visit.
For the price you are charging for movies, I would expect to have a clean and sanitary experience, not the feeling like I don’t want to touch anything in the theatre because its sticky, grimy, and fear of getting some STD through contact. I will be undoubtedly be taking my business elsewhere.
It's worth driving the additional 20 minutes to San Luis Obispo (where there are well maintained and clean recliners in every theatre) for the same price as Galaxy's...
Read moreBe careful purchasing tickets online, the movies listed on google that link directly to the “choose your time and seat” Galaxy Atascadero page are not correct. If you’re googling films it will often be completely wrong for what’s actually playing in theater. Be careful and double check on the payment page at the top of the screen that you have the right movie because you can literally buy tickets to the wrong film lol. The ticket process is the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars.
I wish the website/google process was up-to-date because that makes it so easy to find and buy tickets ahead of time and reserve your seat! The $2 online convenience fee for buying tickets is too much if you ask me. You’d think this might make things easier with Covid and social distancing.
Other than that: their popcorn is always fresh so I prefer this over the Paso theater because of it and their snacks/staff are so awesome! You guys are the best and we are so happy you opened up again for the community! Thank you to your amazing staff who always make it an incredible time away from the chaos of Covid.
What’s it like with Covid? You can get large refillable popcorns/sodas for the whole family and when you refill it they have you toss the container and give you a new bin/cup to avoid germs and what not. There are spots on the lobby floor indicating where to stand so you are distanced from strangers. They have hand sanitizer stations which are great but it’s pretty slimey (I recommend using the restroom to wash hands). The best part is that during this pandemic they block off the 2 seats nearest your reserved seats (on your left and right- not behind or in front of you) and it’s an incredible experience with distance! We felt really safe integrating back into the social scene with the precautions they took. If they could get rid of the process of having to sign receipts at the ticket/candy counter that would be even better because that adds times and additional touching of items that...
Read moreGreat theatre experience! Clean, spacious, and lots o keep you happy; beautiful lobby, roomy, great crowd circulation layout, so you never feel crowded. They serve alcohol, so great local wine choices, and variety of great beer too . You can buy alcohol in main lobby with the other concessions (the pizza is great!), or also buy your alcohol drinks, and non-alcoholic drinks and popcorn at the VIP lounge, further in the end of corridor area of theatre. The lounge is fun, all maroon decore, beautiful bar, classy chairs and tables. Adjacent to the lounge is the VIP theatre, best movie experience! BIG red leather , reclining chairs, lost wide enough for 2! All theatres are large, since there are 10 (I think?) screens, Yo might think the theatres would be small, not the case, all are roomy. Employees are mainly young quality locals, a lot oflocal high school students :) . Always dressed neatly, polite helpf u l, and very upbeat and adding to the positive and very fun movie experience. I have been to this theatre probably almost 100 times, and I have seen employees always professional, and also EEAL, and personable with cuatomers. I can't say enough positive things about the great crew there; knowledgeable, fast at everything they do, and again, warm smiles and fun to deal with!
Bathrooms are huge and clean. There are a couple of smaller single potties, down the long corridor towards VIP also. All are clean, and play great music, haha, just added fun! Temperature in theatres is slightly on cool side of course, but not too much, just right.
Theatre makes using MOVIE PASS, simple and easy to use.
They have a great rewrds card system, it works, and rewards are easily reached.
Best Theater experience in SLO COUNTY, in my book $
Enjoy! You'll be...
