Georgian Hall hosted our wedding in June. They worked with South Kitchen to provide the food. So, food, drinks, and venue management (tables, linens, set-up, etc.) are all with the same group. This was extremely convenient and made planning much easier. We had an amazing experience at Georgian Hall, and we really appreciated the work and thought that Shannon Woolsey put into making our day special. I’ll go over everything one by one in this review.
Shannon Woolsey and the Team: Before the wedding, Shannon was very communicative, transparent, and easy to work with. On the day of, Shannon and all of the staff really went above and beyond. We used Georgian Hall for both the ceremony and reception. The venue flip, set up for food, and bar service all went off without a hitch. While managing all of that, Shannon made sure that my wife and I got taken care of. The whole staff was kind and professional. It was obvious how hard Shannon was working to make things perfect.
Venue and Set Up: Georgian Hall is really beautiful on its own. The columns and tiling in the space are elegant. We did not feel the need to spend extra on decorations or too much on flowers. The venue works well for both the ceremony and reception. We felt like we had plenty of space, the A.C. was working well on a hot day, and the bridal suite was convenient and provided a nice space to get ready. Georgian Hall provides all the tables, cutlery, and linens for the reception. They were all high quality. We liked not having to go elsewhere for these details. They really kept it easy.
Food: The food was standout. South Kitchen did an awesome job. We had: the chicken, shrimp meuniere, grits, collard greens, sweet potatoes, and a salad. Our out-of-town guests were mostly from Chicago and they liked the southern flair (you don’t have to get southern food, we choose to). There was definitely enough food, and we had numerous guests tell us that it was some of the best food they’d had at a wedding. Since the kitchen is another room in the venue, I think this ensures that the food doesn’t end up cold (like catered food sometimes can).
Drinks: We opted for a signature cocktail (a French 75), and it was such a hit! Our guests had a lot of these, and my wife and I loved them. We could tell that they used fresh lemon juice, good champagne, and nice gin in the cocktail. Shannon and team even thought to make fresh lemonade for the children who attended. My wife and I keep ordering these in nice restaurants, and not one has even come close to tasting as good as they did at Georgian Hall. We also had beer, wine, and mixed drinks. The bar used high quality wines (we got compliments on the wine selections from our guests who have high wine standards), had nice beers, and I noticed that they were using good liquors for the mixed drinks. They didn’t cheap out at all when providing alcohol and it showed in the quality of the drinks on the day of. This was definitely worth it.
Value for the Money: Overall, we felt that the convenience of the venue (tables, cutlery, plates, etc. all included with no need to move guests to another location for reception), superior customer service from Shannon and team, and the phenomenal food and drinks, were more than we were expecting for the price...
Read moreI honestly can't say enough good things about our experience with Georgian Hall. From start to finish, everything was absolutely incredible, and it truly made our wedding day feel magical.
First of all, the food was unbelievable. We had so many guests come up to us saying it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding—and we completely agree. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and honestly just delicious. The in-house catering team absolutely knocked it out of the park!
But what really made the planning process stress-free and actually enjoyable was working with sales and planning team. I had the privilege of working with Maddie McCullough as my in-house coordinator. She was hands-down the best coordinator I’ve ever worked with (and I’ve planned a few big events before). Maddie was organized, responsive, calm under pressure, and always one step ahead of everything. She thought of things I never would’ve considered and made the whole day flow so smoothly. I genuinely don’t know what we would’ve done without her. Calley and Lindsey were also a great help to us throughout the process, and it was so nice to know we had a team of elite professionals helping us through the most special time of our lives. You can tell that everyone who works here is passionate about what they do, and it shows!
We were also blown away by the vendor options Georgian Hall provided. Every recommendation felt like a perfect fit, and it was so nice not having to chase down a million different people or guess who might be good. From florals to music to rentals, we felt like we were in such good hands across the board.
And of course, the venue itself is stunning. The historic charm, the natural light, the details in the architecture—it all created such a unique and beautiful atmosphere that didn’t even need much decorating. It’s elegant and just has such a special feel to it.

Read moreI had my wedding reception at Georgian Hall in March 2022 and it was absolutely perfect, exceeding all expectations. My guests loved the building history and beauty, the ambiance, the convenience to everything in downtown Athens including hotels and especially the food and service!!
The building itself is gorgeous! My husband loved having an actual bar space and I loved having the option for my guests to flow in and out of the lobby as they wished. The upstairs club room (and terrace!) was perfect for getting ready before the wedding and used as a spot for our band and photographers to take a break during. The space is more on the formal side but it is still a super fun party atmosphere.
The food was DELICIOUS and all service was superb! There were a ton of food and drink options to choose from and we loved having local beer on tap! Everyone made a point to tell me how good the food was and what a wonderful job the staff and service did. My family even commented that clean up and break down was swift and extremely organized.
Maddie and Lindsey were a total dream team to work with and made planning easy and stress-free. They are open to new ideas and very flexible so that your vision can come to life. They were with me every step of the way, answering all my annoying questions and walking me through the process. I only had a day-of coordinator and for me that was enough since they were so helpful and accommodating.
The Something Blue car is also really sweet and a great way to exit and end the night.
