Piedmont Park's Dog park is great. There are two areas; one for dogs over 30 lbs and another for dogs under 30 lbs. Most owners are very responsible for their pet(s) and take great care of the park and monitor their pet(s). The dogs have so much room to play and run in. Our 140 lb Great Dane loves it there and can actually stretch his legs, running, without hitting a fence/other side of the dog park here! There are restrooms very close to the dog park and in my experience they are always open and clean (though there is never any hand soap there). If you look into "Meetup" they always have great "MeetUp" days for specific breeds of dogs and you can schmooze with other owners of your favorite breed(s)! Piedmont even has specific days that you can buy alcohol within the dog park itself and hang out watching your dog. The park does have numerous benches and two "watering" areas with water bowls and functional water for the pups year-round. In the summer it can get hot since there is very little tree cover, so go later in the day and the shade will be longer. There is also a large bridge that covers the large-dog park and it's always great for shade.
The only downside is that the dog park is relatively far from any parking areas, especially if you don't want to pay for parking. So if your dog is excitable, it may be a "long" walk to get to the dog park.Summary: This is an extremely great dog park and we visit at least once, if not twice, weekly despite living 40 minutes away from it....
Read moreThe only dog park I take my dog to now. The dog park is large and provides lots of running space for my dog and other dogs. I like the rocks that are found throughout the park because my dog loves to jump on top of the rock and be the queen of the hill. There are also lots of balls laying around to be thrown even though I bring my own ball. The water stations could be closer together but I assume they were placed on two separate ends to accomadate pets throughout the entire park. I wonder if anyone ever comes through and give the park a good clean, which is why I rated the park 4 stars. Just beware that some dogs are more rowdy than others and there isn't anyone from the park that can tell a owner hos dog is displaying negative behaviors. Overall the park is a delight to go to and my pet is exhausted from all the running she does when we are there. Enjoy...
Read moreThis is the best dog park in Atlanta. The amount of space available for the dogs to run around is incredibly maintained. The dog parked is sectioned for large dogs and small dogs. Each section has trees, giant boulders, and even a leash rack. Also, there is an abundance of doggy bag stations with trashcans dispersed through the area, so there is really no excuse for someone not to pick up after their pet.
The environment at this park is welcoming and very pet friendly. All the dogs off their leashes for the most part are well trained and friendly with other dogs. There has only been one instance where there was an aggressive dog and the owner eventually left.
The park is located right off Piedmont Park, and has easy access to the belt line. An overall wonderful place to bring your furry friends on a beautiful...
