THEFT!! Check your account to ensure you were charged correctly!!
I didn't want to leave this review, but after noticing I was overcharged $45 for a drink, I had to.
-reservations were for 8pm, I sat at the bar to have ONE drink while I waited for my friend -drink with the added service charge was $21.12. The bartender was nice, so I left an additional $5 tip, totaling $26.12, as I had to close out my tab before being seated at the table -hardly anyone in on this Wednesday night, so the waitress came right over after we were seated and took drink orders. I didn't order another drink, but my friend ordered hers. It was taking too long, and I asked my friend where is your drink, I guess I was loud, the waitress walked to the bar, grabbed the drink, and brought it to the table. She then proceeds to ask me 3 times back to back if I am okay. It was excessive because my friend ended up saying she stated she was fine, why are you keep asking her that. To put a little more context, this wasn't a "can I get you anything?" are you ok. It was her asking because she heard me ask about the drink, so it was a passive-aggressive approach. Nonetheless, I shook it off. When it was time to order, I found out I was given an old menu, so what I thought I was going to get wasn't available. Okay, no big deal, I thought. I told the waitress I needed additional time to look at the correct menu, and at first she was going to wait to put in my friends order, I told her no, we had already been waiting so please put their order in. I finally put my order in for the safari steak strip, MEDIUM temp. My food came out, the waitress laughed about how she even brought me a steak knife. I could barely cut the steak bc it was so tough on the outside, they overcooked the outside of the steak! I was chewing for a long time on one-piece, even the people I was with noticed it and acknowledged how tough the steak was. I told the waiter that I didnt want it at that point and she told me I could only have a new one cooked or order something else, they wouldnt take it off my bill. She stated this multiple times. I asked to see a menu, because now where is this in writing that I can not return the food and opt not to pay for something that I can not eat, plus with the other small things that happened, I wasnt comfortable ordering anything else. I asked for the manager. The manager arrived, asked what was going on and I explained everything again. He stated, arent you hungry? I told him I ate some of the spinach ( which wasn't good, btw but was included with the steak) and he could just charge me for that. When it was time to pay, there was no bill for me, as I was told by the waitress I wasn't going to be responsible. Now, all of sudden, there is coincidentally an overcharge of $45 on my account. Again, I only charged my card at the bar. Imagine how many people they may have done this to and didn't even notice because they don't really check their account details?!! This is true THEFT!! My account was charged $71.12. I checked the menu, and the steak was $45, so I definitely feel as though this was intentionally done. BEWARE!!!! P.s. I can't say anything good because this has...
Read moreI was invited to attend dinner at this restaurant by a monthly Food Group Gathering. Where the group meets monthly to support a small minority owned venue.
Upon entering the restaurant I informed the hostess I have a confirmed reservation with a party that was already seated for a group of seven. The hostess began to display resistance and allowing me to join my party.
Even when being motioned by the person who made the reservation for seven. It was also oblivious there was a table setting for seven patrons. And I was the seventh person. Withe the capability to seat up to eight,
Once seated the hostess continued in trying to make an issue of me joining this party at their table. One of the organizers was eventually successful in letting the hostess know everything was okay. As I was the seventh person for the table seated for 7 persons.
The restaurant has a very beautiful decor. However, the lighting is too dark. Making it very difficult to view the menu and see what one is eating. Before ordering my food, most of my party members just received their appetizers.
Which was surprising of how the small portions for the price of these menu items, including the entrees. When asked by the waiter what I would like to drink, I stated water. He then asked if I would like tap or sparkling water.
The prices for the entrees are $35 - $65 dollars. The appetizers were $16 - $26 dollars. Most of the appetizers and entrees were smaller that a bread plate size. For the prices, the thought would be the restaurant would have spring or filtered water.
I ordered the $26 dollar appetizer that contained African Tiger Prawn with a delicious tomato sauce. Along with a $9.00 dollar side dish of a 6 to 8 stems of asparagus. Which was extremely bland and lacked seasoning.
Once everyone was done with our meals, and the dinnerware was removed, another member of the Food Gathering Group arrived. The hostess began to give this member a very hard time in joining our table or with another members’ table, that seated four people. Even when there were only two people at this table.
The restaurant was fairly empty with many available tables The last guest that arrived was extremely hungry,. However, she was completely turned off from even wanting to order a meal. After this encounter the hostess had the restaurant owner to come over and address this guest.
It appeared the manager was a bit surprised regarding how his hostess presented this issue to him. After speaking with members of our party regarding this member taking a seat at our table. Seemingly, it appeared the manager saw this matter as total nonsense.
A short while later the owner / manager surprisingly presented our table with fine drinking glasses and a bottle of complimentary champagne. This was a very nice gesture after having to experience this level of exchange from one of the...
Read moreLove the decor and look of this place, but if I could give the service negative stars I would. I'm not talking about the server (who was actually quite good), I'm talking about the flow and timing of the dinner service - the amount of time it to actually took for each course to arrive was wild. To the point that my guest and I joked that you really had to be determined to eat there.
We sat for well over 30 minutes before any person came to our table. We had to flag down the host on his way to seat other guests and ask him if he could find our server. The host was very professional and incredibly apologetic. He went and found someone. About 10 minutes later a server arrived at our table. The server was incredibly apologetic as well. He said that there was a huge mix-up and and that he would be covering the table. We ordered one round of cocktails and appetizers. The cocktails took 15-20 minutes to arrive at the table. The appetizers arrived much later. When we finally got to the point where we ordered our main dishes, the food took forever to arrive. Our server kept coming to the table and apologizing saying that the kitchen was backed up. I felt sorry for our server because I could tell he was very good. However, he was put in a position to fail because the kitchen was so impossibly slow. We passed on ordering desserts because I didn't want to wait another hour for more food.
The food was good, not great. Two rounds of drinks, two appetizers and two entrees will put you in the range of about $300 or so, which is reasonable. However, of course, they add a service charge. If I had the option to add a tip, I probably wouldn't tip very well here because my experience was not good and it definitely wasn't worthy of 15 or 20% gratuity.
The way the drinks menu was written was really frustrating. Each cocktail had very flowery language about what you are supposed to experience drinking the drink but didn't tell you what the main ingredients were for each drink. Every time we picked a different cocktail on the menu, the server would have to tell us what the liquor was for that drink because it wasn't always listed in the description. Also the font used for the descriptions was so tiny and stylized that it made the descriptions very hard to read.
Avoid the two-seater tables against the wall. The tables are way too close to each other!! We were sat at the middle table. People kept being seated at the table behind us and then would asked to move to another table. This happened 2 times in a row while we were seated. Anytime the person in the chair behind me got up, their chair would bump into mine in a way that was very distracting and had a negative impact on my dinner experience. The chair bumping was...
