My horrific experience occurred at the end of May and beginning of June. However, it's taken me this long to write about it without crying. Being as brief as possible, here's the debacle that happened to me at Steve Hightower Salon...I was letting my gray grow in. I had about 2 inches in growth so it was quite visible at this point. I decided to have the old color replaced with silver gray. I thought it would be fun since it is all the rage right now. Plus, I figured it would look more natural growing in instead of having a reddish brown on the bottom of my new salt and pepper growth. My original appointment was with Brian Mayer. I went into the salon with LOTS of pictures. There was no doubt what I wanted and that Brian understood my request. He suggested going salt and pepper with silver gray instead of full silver to blend even more naturally. After a 5 hour process, I left with green hair. The kind of green that looks like a blond spent the summer in a chlorine pool. I wasn't even sure I was seeing it properly. I thought it had to be an illusion as I was shuffled out of the salon. Once in the daylight, there was no doubt of the severe color error by Brian. I texted about the problem and was to to call for a color correction after the holiday weekend (this was memorial weekend). 2 weeks later, I was back for a "do over". This time with Milissa Larsen. This experience was even more horrifying than the 1st! She spent some time chatting with me to ensure there was no miscommunication. I showed her the original pictures plus more for good measure. She wasn't even close! It was blond at best with a dark under layer. But the worse part, my hair was breaking off and falling out everywhere while she brushed and dried it!! I told her to stop because of the breakage, and to my horror, this is what she said..."well, at least you have lots of hair so you'll never be bald". What?!? Then, after using a round bristled brush on me that was contributing to the massive amount of hair loss, she had the audacity to look me in the eye and say..."to prevent further breakage, don't brush your hair when it's wet". I left with wet hair and in tears. I was mortified by the entire 11 hour total process as well as the $380+ I paid for this unacceptable treatment. I should have been refunded my money at the very least. However, what disappointed me the most was never once hearing the words "We are sorry". The owner, Steve, was in the salon on both of my visits. He never even said a word to me when clearly, his employees were unable to produce the intended results. Both stylists were untalented when trying to accomplish a silver color, unprofessional with words, and uncaring about my experience. I'm not suggesting that they are unskilled in all areas. I am just clearly stating that if you are in the market for out-of-the-ordinary creativity in color or want people that care about the results, do NOT go to this salon. This advice will save you from a horrific and unacceptable experience such as mine. I am now looking at years to get my hair back its original healthy condition. Steve Hightower salon was a waste of my money...
Read moreI cannot express how thrilled I am with the incredible work that Steve Hightower did on my hair at his salon. He performed a bleach double process, followed by a charcoal glaze that left my hair free of any brassiness and with a stunning, long-lasting shine. To repair any damage, he used an amazing Lanza emergency product that not only restored my hair but also left it smelling incredible and looking incredibly healthy.
Following the treatment, Steve gave me a gorgeous haircut and blowdry that left me feeling like a million bucks. I also purchased all the products he recommended for at-home care, including the Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Repair Conditioner and Shampoo, Water Sign Hydrating Hair Oil, Lanza Keratin Healing Oil Finishing Spray, and Lanza Keratin Healing Oil Intensive Mask. I have to say, these products are absolute game-changers!
I highly recommend all of the products Steve recommended, but most of all, I wholeheartedly recommend Steve Hightower himself. He is undoubtedly the best hairstylist in all of Atlanta, and his work is simply excellent. I am so grateful for his talent and expertise!
My second review If you’re looking for flawless hair, real talent, and a salon experience that feels like luxury from the inside out—Steve Hightower Hair Salon & Day Spa is it.
I used to see Steve Hightower himself (and he is absolutely incredible), but because he books out so far in advance—and I’m often a last-minute caller—I started seeing Issac… and let me tell you: that was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Issac does my hair now, and I’m beyond happy with him. He is kind, attentive, talented, and so tuned in to what works for you. My hair always comes out looking stunning, healthy, and full of life. When Steve corrected the brassiness in my blonde and created this perfect tone with a charcoal glaze, he actually showed Issac how he achieved it—and now Issac nails it every time.
So if you want gorgeous, professional, elevated hair—extensions, color, treatment, styling—you need to ask for Issac (especially if Steve is fully booked). You will love him.
But I still see Steve for my haircuts because no one cuts like he does. And when I say he’s the best in Atlanta, I mean it. He also offers concierge styling—yes, he will come to your hotel or location if you need top-tier styling on the go. Steve’s work speaks for itself, and yes, he’s a luxury price point—but he’ll make you look like a million dollars, and he’s worth every single penny.
I also refer my friends (both women and men) to this salon all the time—especially for tough hair issues, hair loss, extensions, or just that total glam transformation.
Let’s not forget the rest of the team: Javier, Luna, and everyone in the salon is warm, skilled, and the absolute best at what they do. Steve only hires top-tier talent, and it shows.
This is an award-winning salon for a reason. Don’t just take my word for it—go see for yourself.

Read moreIf I could give this place a negative I would. Firstly she conducted no skin consult, we did not talk about my skin at all. She proceeds to put some lavender infused concoction on my face, I was like, nope not here my face is way too sensitive for that. The intake form asked about allergies; I am not allergic to essential oils but I am unable to apply them on my face. My body has no issues. She would have known this had she asked or even described her process. Which she did not. As a first time client she does not know my face or skin. So unprofessional. I had microcurrent facial yesterday with Julie. My face has always been smooth, no pore issues, now my "decent" skin as Julie called it looks like a strawberry with, dimpled where she used high current to remedy some areas. Each area has noticeable pores, itchy, dark spots, and seemingly inflammed. My facial muscles do not feel refined or more contoured. Now I looked at my face laying down and was ok. But duh. I sat up and thought meh, and overnight my face looks worse with these dimpled marks like a strawberry. She did not use any technique based on the four microcurrent facials I have had in the past. In the past my face would feel at least rejuvenated and some muscle refinement. Not this time. I feel like I have an allergic reaction. I say avoid this place and their microcurrent ineptitude. The spa is a repurposed old home which is quaint a bit different for me. Oh yes and tips are only in cash, and the receptionist quickly pointed out they have an ATM, so you can get cash, I asked her about the fee $3 on their side, not sure how much my bank would charge. But in no way shape or form do they allow tips on the card, the receipt looks like they do but they don't. But after this morning, no tip was warranted and this review is a warning for those of you who might try this service. Please...
