Holiday Inn Express has always been a good value and experience for me. The rooms are clean, the beds are soft, the breakfast is good, and the workout area & equipment allow you to get a good workout in if you want.
In this regard, I was absolutely satisfied.
Customer service however...was the worst of the worst ever. The overnight desk associate was completely unprofessional. I won't go into the anecdote but I am positive this isn't the first time her behavior and tact has been a guest's issue. I confronted the bully at the very moment. Every time she would see me, she'd avoid contact. Yet, her guilt would cause her to break the awkwardness with a lame joke and a fake smile.
A calm answer turns away wrath, soft I responded with, "I asked Brittany if it was okay to park here because they said reserved. She said they weren't reserved and I could park there." She replied, "Well she told you wrong, you got to move."
Here's the kicker, she gave me 3 different lies as to why I had to move. I don't argue with those types. I speak the truth and keep on going. And being the early bird I always am, I'm up and at by 5. Before going to 6am breakfast I loaded up the truck. Four cars parked where I told was restricted, reserved, and off limits (all at the same time = the 3 lies) for me...who checked in prior to when your shift started but accessible to those arriving to park after your negative actions towards me.
The following morning at breakfast she literally stalked me from where she stood.
6:35am - I'm walking to the dining area. I see a lady eating a bowl of cereal. "We don't start break until 7am" she says while my back is facing her.
I look over at the lady having cereal. She says, "I don't why they think everyone sleeps in on the week." I agreed. "Some of us get up early regardless of the day." She smiled.
Didn't want dry cereal. Oatmeal is a go to for me. So I went over, open the oatmeal canister, gave the laddle a stir, "The Oatmeal ain't ready!" No sh!t Sherlock #2!
So then I walk to the drink machine, grab a cup, and push the lever for water..."The drink machine ain't turned on!"
Clearly, this lady found some twisted enjoyment from seeing me denied and delayed.
If she were white I would have sworn she was racist. That's how negative her energy was. She even manipulated a lame security guard to come outside to reinforce her b.s: "You da one out here wit dat truck? I jus' want you to know I'm the security over dis here lot."
I couldn't help but to laugh out loud. I'd be more afraid of Barney Fife than this funny acting fella. The worst part is I was out there trying to help a bus driver out with his parking. Had I minded my own business that Angry Black Bear would have never crossed my path, or even laid eyes on me to bully.
Worse, she wouldn't have done that to the YT guests...because that's all the 4 who parked where I parked where. Like I side, The Angry Black Bear with Pink Ponytail tips is the worse. You can check all of my reviews. This is the first time I have ever written about such a bad experience or person. When I took the Operations Manager's card, I was asked, "What you gone take that for?"
As you can see... I show better than I tell.
AGAIN ... The facility and venue was great (as always!) but the treatment by that one night clerk and security was detestable...and I've been an IHG Rewards member for years.
I would have made my issue known to the operations manager, Tee Carter. Yet, when I asked one of the associates if/when she'd arrive I got a goony face. You know The Angry Black Bear w/Pink Ponytail tips didn't want me to know her name.

Read moreThis has to be the weirdest experience I've ever had with Holiday inn Express. So today I flew in from Miami I arrived at the hotel around 2:00 I had reservations to stay there for an entire week. So I pulled up my car in the lobby area and parked. I then went to the hotel front door One door opened but the other door was closed. So I lightly knocked the door and pressed the buzzer hoping someone would come out and assist me I waited around 15 minutes and no one appeared. So I stood there for a little while after which a lady popped out of a vehicle that was parked in front of the hotel. She then asked me if I had reservations. I replied Yes I do she then proceeded to tell me to step aside and then open the hotel door and walked in closing it behind. I thought she was going to do something and then get back to me she went in and I could hear her on her phone talking to someone and laughing which I found very odd. After 30 minutes I proceeded to tap the door again to get somebody's attention nobody came out I then saw the lady appeared at the front desk looked at me and did not say anything I was astonished that this was happening after my long flight and at the time of night You would owe someone would be concerned and would be willing to assist you. I then decided to call the IHG helpline they quickly got on it and tried to help the operator that assist me Rico he attempted to call the hotel front desk and nobody answered so I told him that I was looking at the lady at the front desk he was also wondering what was happening but to the end the IHG representative found me another hotel and booked it for me so that I could get somewhere to sleep for the night. My thing is if you are doing a job and you can do it properly or you don't like your job you should find something else to do totally horrible experience I've never had that before I will never forget and I will make sure I tell everyone that I know not to ever book at this hotel ever horrible...
Read moreThe staff at this hotel are the heart of it. They are wonderful! From the front desk staff, to housekeeping, to the breakfast attendants--they are top notch. I always ask tons of questions when I arrive in an unfamiliar place and every person I talked to answered me pleasantly and I was so grateful for them.
Unfortunately, the hotel is older and is in desperate need of repairs as well as replacement furniture. Every piece of furniture in my room that had a soft surface was stained. Literally every piece. The chairs, the sofa. They all needed a shampoo. The floor had seen more than it's fair share of feet and shoes--that went for the room carpeting as well as the carpeting in the hallway that was lifting up in various places and just filthy. All of the carpet in the hotel needs a shampoo. All of it! We brought our toddler daughter with us and I refused to let her play on the floor, let alone walk on it without shoes.
Our tub had a dirt ring around it on our first night, so I had to go across the street to Target and get some Clorox all purpose spray and Comet to clean the tub before I could bathe my child. The floor had crumbs on it when we checked in a a piece of food was stuck underneath the wet bar. We managed to get a vacuum from one of the front desk people and vacuumed ourselves, as well as disinfected / cleaned all hard surfaces.
But the coup de grace was the VERY large flying roach crawling on the mirror our last night there. After having to clean the room ourselves, that was just the icing on the cake. We were glad to leave.
Would I stay here again? Probably not. Not unless I couldn't find another establishment to stay at. I will say the hotel's proximity to big box stores and grocery stores is superb, but the cleanliness aspect of it will prevent me from reserving here again. But I can't say enough about the staff. They really...
