The best dog park in within 20 miles of Auburn. The other ones are great too - but after a year of living here with my three dogs, this is the one we come back to again and again. First, the dog stuff: it's got a nice high fence all round, separate small and large dog areas, and plenty of water and at least some shade at all times of day. Nice grass too. There's also a waterfall feature and small paddle pools, which is great for water babies and hot days. The best thing though is the people - the regulars are friendly and welcoming, there's almost always someone there, and especially in the mornings and around sunset, there's plenty of big, playful and energetic dogs for your pup to play with. People are good about keeping their dogs under control too, if your dog is more of a shy baby, the other dogs and humans are respectful. Someone for all ages - mornings and evenings and weekends are a younger crowd, families and stuff. Other times it's more senior, though I find that age doesn't matter so much because everyone is friendly and you always have something to bond over. If you haven't been, definitely check it out. Sunset is my favorite time to come because the dogs all look so beautiful and the people are in a good mood.

Visited this park only once because I thought it would be a good place to walk for exercise, but didn’t because of the many gofer holes in the ground, and though it has a dog park, many dog owners had their dogs run freely outside the dog park area. I enjoyed seeing the small lake with geese. I also had an issue with a car that parked so close to my driver’s side, I had to climb in from the passenger’s side.

Ashford Park is one of our favorite places to take our dog to play. The huge dog park is a nice grassy area with a waterfall in one corner, providing plenty of space for running or playing fetch. On warmer days, our Aussie loves to cool his toes in the waterfall. For families, there's a nice playground and open fields for kids to play.

This review is based on our experience with the dog park, not the scenery, which is very pretty. Why the hell they had the nice area for small dogs locked up with a chain us beyond me?! It could have been a really pleasant time for all, but our dog is small and it's only our 2nd time at a dog park. Having to let him out with the large dogs could mean life or death if he crosses one that he makes mad. REALLY stupid. There were at least 3 dogs, including German shepherds and pits that were obviously agressive, running at other dogs with their hair up and rolling down other dogs while growling. No thank you. I don't want to take the chance. Not fun and I...

I'm a walker, & Ashford definitely benefits from driving there. Quite a jog from the entrance to the actual grounds, especially if you want to hike the scenic areas.

On the other hand, the dog facilities are good; my niece takes her dog there to socialize with other medium large dogs. [Pet is a setter.] Water & sanitation well thought out.

So, for me trying to get my steps in a safe pretty environ, it's a lot of effort just to start. Thus, 3 🌟.

If you drive to your walks, or to your pooch play dates,...
