Where do I even start with this disaster of a gym? I joined Anytime Fitness hoping for a welcoming place to train hard and push my limits, but instead, I got treated like a criminal for doing exactly that. Last week, I was KICKED OUT—yes, banned!—for supposedly “working too much” and accidentally dropping a weight ONCE. This place is an absolute joke if you’re serious about fitness. First off, the staff had the nerve to tell me I was “overdoing it” because I was in the gym for two hours, hitting heavy lifts and really grinding. Apparently, putting in real effort is frowned upon here? I was focused, keeping to myself, and using the equipment properly, but they acted like I was causing a scene. Then, during a tough deadlift set, I accidentally let a barbell drop—not a slam, mind you, just a slip after a grueling rep. The clang wasn’t even that loud, but you’d think I’d smashed their entire dumbbell rack from the way the manager stormed over. The manager, who clearly has no clue about lifting culture, chewed me out in front of everyone, saying I was “disrupting the vibe” and that my “excessive training” was making others uncomfortable. What?! This is a GYM, not a yoga studio. People are here to work, not sip smoothies and chat. They didn’t even give me a warning—just told me to pack my stuff and leave, claiming I violated their “community standards.” I’m sorry, since when is training hard and accidentally dropping a weight a crime? The equipment here is mediocre at best—half the machines are creaky, and the weight room is cramped, so maybe they’re just mad I was using their precious barbells. The staff are power-tripping and seem to hate anyone who actually lifts. If you’re a casual gym-goer who sticks to treadmills, you’ll probably be fine. But if you’re serious about strength training, steer clear of this place. They’ll punish you for your dedication. I’ve been to plenty of gyms, and Anytime Fitness is by far the worst. Save your money and find a real gym that respects hard work. I’m still fuming about how they humiliated me for no reason....
Read moreI just joined this gym yesterday! I was once a member of AF in Kyle, but after I graduated from college I moved. I always appreciated that they were small but had what I needed. Never crazy crowded. I ended up at Crunch, but ended up moving a second time. After that, I lived too far to justify going to Crunch anymore. I ended up finding that AF had two locations close to my home. My fear was that by going to location in Austin, it might be way more crowded. I called and was greeted by Mr. Sargent who was ready to talk to me and set up an appointment to meet with me. When arriving, he answered all of my questions and did his best to make sure all of my needs would be met at this location. He gave me a tour and did a great job expressing to me that he was highly invested in this location. He mentioned that equipment has quarterly maintenance and if something happened in the meantime, equipment is never down for more than a day or two. While being there, he and his team were rather social with most of the clients there, so clearly, these guys have great relationships with their members. Not too crowded, and there’s plenty of space to do what I need to do. He explained the contract to me thoroughly and gave me every opportunity to ask questions. I went this morning around 4am, and sure enough, everything was clean and well stocked. I can’t wait to see my name on their leaderboard...

That shower curtain has been there for months. A number of times I have walked in to see water on the floor. It was not till a negative review got put up that suddenly member safety is important and priority. Safety is about recognizing and correcting an "Unsafe Condition" before something happens, being proactive. Management is not safety conscious. I offered to mop up the water however gym management said "No" than gym management wants to be upset cause they decided to mop up the water after I offered. They want to place the blame on the gym members for getting water on the floor when they are the ones who put up a shower curtain that is too narrow and too short than as to saying the truth gym management wants to spin this incident off on how gym member safety is soo important to them.
been working out at anytime fitness for 13 years, management at this gym wants to place the blame on me for their shower having a curtain that is too narrow, too short and water getting on the floor outside the shower, starting to see why every time there is less than five members at what is supposed to be an extreme busy time of the day for a gym, what took place makes me think of what i have heard about planet fitness, will never come...
