It's never fun to have blood drawn, but this location is mostly friendly, competent, & efficient. You may be required to go to CPL for your lab tests, in which case you don't have much of a choice. This location has clean, disability accessible bathrooms, and is not the worst.
There's a garage around back if the surface lot is full, which usually has some spots. If you're taking public transit, do know that sidewalks are not in place along 100% of James Casey. Walking over from 1st on Radam is safer for pedestrians than the St. Elmo / James Casey intersection.
They more or less call folks in order of arrival, which is nice to see (I'm assuming others had appointments or unusual tests). The phlebotomists are friendly, and folks in the office are doing their best to be genial in customer/paperwork facing jobs within our anarchic medical "system". The billing has always been in keeping with where I am in using my insurance benefits for the year, and the online payment system works well.
I had a glucose tolerance test here a couple years ago, and they were clear about what to expect / handled the timing well, although I wish they'd tested my blood sugar instantaneously before I left. You might request it with that...
Read moreCame in around 10AM on a Thursday morning. I had a very short wait in a clean waiting room and a fantastic phlebotomist. The only time I have passed out during a blood draw was the last time I had my blood drawn (at a Dr.'s office). Despite this only happening once before, I was pretty nervous it might happen again, especially since I'd been fasting for over 10 hours. I mentioned this to the phlebotomist who took me back and was immediately offered the option of having my blood drawn lying down. I was sent back out to the waiting room and waited maybe about 5 more minutes for the room with the table to free up. The phlebotomist who ultimately took care of me was so friendly and competent, I felt really at ease. He was also incredibly efficient — definitely the fastest blood draw I've ever had. I also ALWAYS bruise after having labs done, but not today — so far, no signs of bruising on my arm. I'm very impressed and grateful for the service I received. As others have said, the front desk staff aren't the friendliest or the best at communicating. Unfortunately, that's pretty standard for any medical office. For me, today, it was an an okay trade off for such great service from the...
Read moreI've been here twice and both times were quick and painless. Im so grateful for Kaitlyn an Anne who both were able to draw my blood first try which was an incredible relief and shows their skill because out 20 or 30 blood draws I've had over the last few years they were the only ones able to do it without many pokes and a lot of pain. Update 1 yr later: Renee did an amazing job finding my vein today! She is the only reason I will give 4 stars instead of 2, because I did have a somewhat negative experience. I believe it was an honest mistake, but at the window, they told me it would be 70% cheaper if I paid them instead of having the doctor's office bill it. And so I almost did. But it turns out that my doctor's office has a discount account with them. And if I had gone through and paid them in person, it would have been 10x the amount I paid my doctor's office! They would have charged me $350 after telling me I was getting a 70% discount. When instead, my doctor's office charged me $35! The woman at the front desk was very nice and worked with me to get it all straightened out so that also helped me not give a...
