Food was good but I probably won't return. Prices are decent but the price I saw on the menu is not what I was charged for. I was charged more than what I should have been. It was a to go order and a very simple order with few items. Nothing is given to show what they are charging you for so you just have to pay it. Either it was just the service we received or they normally do this... Doesn't matter if you are eating there or taking to go, they fix orders as they are received. I do get that but at the same time it was busy and I needed to go. I am use to drive thru and/or to go orders usually being taken care of quickly to get those customers done with and out of the store. When I placed my order I spoke clearly and not too fast. It was 3 potato and bacon tacos and 3 potato and egg tacos. I did place my order in English as that is what I speak. It took her 4x to get my order correct with the right type of tacos and even that 4th time I wasn't sure it would be right then. That was frustrating and quite annoying considering how simple and easy my order was. 3 tacos of each type of taco I wanted and only 2 different types. Didn't seem like that could be taken wrong but it was multiple times. Again food was good, the order luckily was correct and those two things are very important, but I was not happy about the service or being charged more than I should have been. I didn't even add anything extra, my order was as basic as...
Read moreThe Best Taqueria is South Austin. Period!
Conveniently located by Discount Tire, so if you are getting tire work done and you happen to be hungry, and need Wi-Fi, eat here, you won't regret it. I grew up in SA and have been eating TexMex and Mexicano food for almost 3 decades. I live off of Riverside, so I have had tacos from Rosita's Al Pastor, Taco More, Taqueria Arandinas, Javi's, Tacos Guerrero and Taqueria #3 La Escondida has without a doubt the best Pastor, Chicharrón, and Bistek out of all of these and I'd rather drive the extra 10 minutes then what is closer on Riverside.
Taqueria #3 La Escondida leans more Mexicano than TexMex which is what makes it so good. Their Torta Cubana is muy deliciousio. And no joke, I get a coffee every time I come here because, not sure what brand it is but it is always fresh and awesome. It is cheap, quick, friendly, free chips and salsa with every order. Salsa's are excellent, which is an absolute must have for a quality Taqueria. Why this place isn't packed every time I am there is beyond me. I have been living in Austin since '11 and discovered this place barely last year and as I finished my last taco, I remember feeling sad that I had missed out on 5 years of not experiencing this place. Go here, eat here, you will not regret it and you will be grateful because you will have discovered your new favorite taco spot. Seriously.
Easy 5 star review.

Read moreWe were completely snubbed the other day trying to eat here. We live around the corner, my boyfriend comes in often and loves it. It was around 7 pm this last Saturday - we were the only ones trying to dine other than a guy sitting at a table waiting for his take-out order. The tables weren’t bussed, trash on the floor, and the lady at the cash register straight up ignored us for 20 minutes. Even after ringing the take-out order up, she stood at the front counter and continued to slowly staple receipts. We were in plain sight, tried to make eye contact for a menu but she was clearly deliberately not about serving us. You would think they were about to close and not wanting to take any more tables but they close at 10pm? After all that time of waiting we got up to leave, she said nothing to us on our way out. There are so many great Mexican restaurants to give service to - we went to El Borrego de Oro instead which is a much better...
