I visited Mage’s Sanctum for the first time for Tarkir Prerelease the other day. As a Magic fiend myself, the moment I walked in I knew that this would be the place to be from now on, from the beautiful glass case display of high end cards, to the enormous table space for many a game to happen, you can tell that the people love the game. On top of all that the alternative selection of other properties and commodities is in itself almost as ample. Refreshment selection has got to be the best in Austin when it comes to game stores, I mean THE BEST. Defintely somewhere you can spend an entire day gaming without even realizing. Shout out to Vincent and Javi behind the counter for running a solid event by people who know what they’re doing....

Mages sanctum was definitively the best local game store in Austin when it was open before COVID. Unfortunately, COVID closed the shop. But it reopened in 2025 at a new location! Couldn't be happier. After attending a pre release last night, I am happy to say Mages Sanctum is STILL the premier friendly local game store in Austin. No other store comes close. They have a great selection of inventory, a TON of playing space, a super friendly and inviting community, and the owner is very friendly and happy to help. Saw a post on Facebook about this store, and decided to stop by with my girlfriend. Best decision of our day. The owner was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly reasonable. Prices for products were not at scalper levels. The store clearly takes pride in being fair with customers. And best of all, my girlfriend felt welcomed and comfortable in a game store for once. I couldn’t ask for more for a first impression of a new game store. I look forward to returning soon and am very excited for the grand opening. I hope Mage’s Sanctum keeps doing what...
