Austin's Hidden Mini Koreatown – Almost No One Knows About K-Town Mart!
Crystal LeeCrystal Lee
I got balayage and paid $340. When I requested for a quote before I got my hair done, she told me it will cost about $220-250. I paid $340 which is $90-120 more expensive. When I requested for the quote, I even sent her my current hair style. She bleached without telling me. After bleaching and toning my hair, my hair didn’t even had even color. Bottom to mid section is close to white and mid to top is yellow. No gradation. Isn’t balayage supposed to have clean gradation? not like yellow and straight to white? I showed her what hairstyle I want. The result looks so different and I just wasted my money. I don’t think I will ever go there to get my hair done again. DISAPPOINTMENT.

- Dirty brushes, stations, no advanced sanitation between clients - Little attention to face framing, opposite of what was asked during consultation - Rugged old hair straightener on recently washed hair without heat protection products. I insisted twice that I can hear my hair popping and the steam was coming. I could smell my burnt hair while she was persuading me that everything is fine. - During consultation Sarah was mildly annoyed at my questions because “it takes less time to cut my hair than to answer them” - Result: very affordable haircut (even for long hair) you get what you pay - Reference, before and after pictures attached

I cannot possibly say enough great things about Sarah. If I could give her 10 Stars, I totally would. I have some serious trust issues based around getting my haircut. Because it seems as though the hair stylist doesn't listen and either takes off too much hair and it looks just awful until it grows out, or takes off to little hair and there is still the split ends rat tail thing going on there, or they just give a bad haircut and then you're stuck with it while wearing hats in the middle of the Texas summer heat. Not cool. But she actually listens to what you are asking for and does her best, which is amazing work.

She gave me a wonderful haircut that not only had layers and texture, but actually framed my face in a complimentary way. And the scalp massages during the shampooing process are also very relaxing and enjoyable too.

And she also has a very light experienced handa which translates to your hair looking more full of body and that "bouncy" effect so that way it doesn't look choppy and it grows out quicker which I absolutely love, since it takes my hair forever to grow out normally.

And not only that, she is also a master hair colorist oh her color is full of creativity and dimension which is very difficult to find.

The icing on the cake is that she is also super sweet and authentic as well. She's very easy going and nice to talk to, you can let your hair down (literally) and just relax for a little while.

She is a rare gem (I am difficult to impress) she is the only stylist in the city that I trust my hair with, and that says a lot since I am very particular about my hair. Aren't we all, ladies? I VERY highly recommend her...

I got my first perm ever here four days ago. I've seen some pretty bad perm catastrophes before so I was a bit nervous, as I just wanted a subtle wave to re-texture my hair and make it easier to style. Sarah asked a lot of questions to make sure she understood exactly what I was going for and explained to me her opinion on the best way to go about it. It was fascinating to watch her work - she's extremely efficient and skillful! The result is exactly what I wanted. My hair has much more lift and body now, and it actually stays in place when I pin or tie it back! The subtle waves make my hair look so much more feminine and I feel like a glamorous oldschool Hollywood startlet when I wear it down. The price was also significantly lower than I was anticipating, less than $100. I also purchased a bottle of "Wave Curling Essence" from her, which was a little pricey but I like the results a lot and will probably go back for more. Most of the writing on the bottle is in Korean, but its basically a leave-in conditioner that keeps chemically treated hair soft and maximizes your natural curl.

So I have the hair I've always wanted and am a very...

As it's a Korean hair salon, I really wanted to try and show my support. You can check my review section; I typically leave positive reviews because I like to support small businesses. However, my recent experience was quite disappointing, and I won't be returning. The hairstylist wasn't a bad person, but she kept complaining about how thick my hair is. I mean, it's not my fault, right? If she didn't want to provide the service, she could have simply declined instead of doing it and complaining. If she expected to be paid, she shouldn't have constantly complained and sighed loudly. She also made some offensive comments to my partner. Overall, it was a rude and unpleasant experience. While the prices were somewhat affordable, the results were unsatisfactory. She even criticized my previous hairstylist for doing a poor job perming my hair. lol It was just a negative experience all around. I really wanted to support this place, but I have no tolerance for a business owner who is both rude and whiny. I won't be returning, and I strongly advise others to steer clear if they care about...
