I recently had the pleasure of shopping Grace & Purl while in town for a family event. As soon as I entered the boutique, I understood why it draws my family in on a regular basis.
Yarn, color and inspiration greet you at the front door - as do the shop staff. It’s not just the warm greeting, colors, texture and displays that lure you in - but all of that together, yes as well as the want to see what lies beyond the entrance. I think the well-lit and we’ll appointed space also has something to do with the welcoming vibe.
Samples are available throughout and attract you to the yarns used to create each deign. It’s easy to be trick yourself into believing you have endless time to create each design you fall in love with - the options makes it very hard to resist temptation!
With a time limit in place and a mission to see Chelsea Yarns in person, I pushed past my need (really a want) for more Malabrigo and dove into the adjacent room. Here I found all the colors and weights of Chelsea I’ve seen virtually. Seeing the yarn in person and being able to squish it, also helped confirm my need to make the Something Cosy sweater.
Through some expert assistance from the staff of Grace & Purl (thank you again!), I was able to choose the right amount and perfect colors of yarn for the sweater (Something Cozy). And! The color selections were so amazing we chose enough yarn for two sweaters then, a sister-knitalong was born!
I was also inspired by a new pattern, Rhinebeck with my Bestie when my sister tried on one of the samples. Now I can’t wait to finish the Something Cozy Sweater so I can start the Rhinebeck pattern! Not only were the samples of this new pattern plentiful they really helped with choosing a colorway and figuring out sizing. The pre-made kits make it super simple to choose, pay and cast on!

Read moreGrace & Purl is one of those gems you feel lucky to have found and want to share with everyone. The most beautiful selection of yarns, amazing knit samples throughout the store that inspire you to try new things, a perfectly curated selection of books, candles and knitting supplies, and an incredible mother-daughter team who make you feel so welcome and at home in their beautiful space by the beach. I have been a customer since they opened and recently decided I needed to learn to crochet when I saw the class they were hosting by Rachel - a perfect complement to Rhonda and Tedi’s offerings. A few youtube videos is how I started, and one class with Rachel made all the difference. Her knowledge of crocheting with all her tips and tricks and explanations of the various techniques helped me make sense of this new world of crochet. If you ever thought of knitting or crocheting or need a good beach read or thoughtfully curated gift when visiting the Jersey shore, make sure to visit Grace & Purl - you’ll...
Read moreI drive from an hour away to shop at Grace & Purl. That's how much I enjoy shopping there. The mother and daughter who own the store are absolutely lovely and I always feel so welcome when I go there. They have a lot of yarns, like Woolfolk, Knit Collage, and Loopy Mango, that I don't see at most of the other yarns stores that I visit, so I love that I can always find something unexpected. In addition to yarn, they sell books, candles, and tea, which all contribute to the shop's "cozy" vibes. And the coastal chic decor is just my style. If you knit or crochet, definitely...
