Would’ve been nice to have gotten a chance to experience the place, but nope! Took my young daughters for a girls day out, made the trip to Avon just for Maeberrie. When we got there they had a good sized crowd and some tables were being cleared. None of the staff at the cafe greeted or acknowledged us even though they saw us come in. We were standing by the host’s table waiting to be seated and I looked at their wait list and the page was empty, so we were pretty hopeful we would be seated right away. However, the host comes and tells us the wait would be an hour. I looked behind him and there were empty table and some in the process of being cleared. No one was waiting with us, and I pointed that out, but he insisted it was an hour for a table. When we stepped out people came in and got a table. When we passed Maeberrie again after twenty minutes at a store, there was an empty table by the window and no line. I asked my daughters if they wanted to try again, but they said “no, it’s clear they don’t want us dining there, maybe because we’re the only Asians there.” Sad that they got the same impression I did. Otherwise it just came off as pretentious of them to be selective of their patrons. I’ve lived in Manhattan and been to so many upscale establishments and the service and welcome there have been a pleasant surprise. We ended up going to Bonney Reade is Asbury , which is a family favorite and where their customer service is always...
Read moreIncredibly interesting and cozy cafe/market! You are greeted by either Mike and/or Keri (owners) and taken to your seat. For the 1st few minutes, your eyes will wander all over the decor. I happen to like the deer horns on the wall. Menu is easy to understand but the hard part is picking something. Everything looks insanely good.
We went in Mother’s Day with a party of 7. So we were able to all order something different. We had blueberry, strawberry lemonade and the elderflower & lemon ice tea.
The drinks then flowed perfectly into the food. Mountain sized mushroom salad which 3 of us shared. Some had the strawberry and blueberry fluff cakes. The vanilla bean butter that comes with the fluff cakes could be a dessert on its own!
I had the fried chicken sandwich with homemade pickles and ranch dressing. The portion was well sized and it came with a side salad. I opted to get the side of bacon and was happy I did. The bacon added a perfect texture and taste to the sandwich.
My wife ordered the country ham Benedict. We all couldn’t keep our hands off it.
At the end of our meal, we felt so comfortable we just didn’t want to leave. It’s nice to see a local establishment who seems to truly love what they do. If your in the area,...
Read moreWe are visiting my niece for the weekend, and she recommended this cutesy, brunch place. We went on a Thursday morning. Street parking only. We hit seated right away, no waiting.
We ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich, waffle, and blueberry pancakes. Just a warning, don't come here if you are really hungry. The food does take a long time to come out. Cappuccino and coffee were just okay. The fried chicken is perfectly seasoned, very moist and juicy, and a decent portion. The waffle and pancakes were just average. Just below expectations.
Our server was great at first managing the whole dining room by herself. But she was getting overwhelmed as more people came in. She did her very best, but we have to flag her down a few times for coffee and...
