Powhatan Springs Park — Attraction in Bailey's Crossroads

I grew up in Arlington when we didn't have a skatepark. I have stopped at the park before to watch and met a kind man who let my son on his skateboard and encouraged me to come Wednesday nights when some of the over-30 crowd comes.

I picked up a board the other night for the first time in over 12 years and went to the park. There was plenty for me to enjoy. The park is and has been clean historically. Recently remodeled, it sports butter smooth concrete paving throughout the park.

The snaking pipe run is about 6 feet high and the street course had enough features to help me reconnect with riding. That said, two bowls seems like a lot of space considering the size of the park. For riders like myself, there isn't much to transition from street riding to learn to ride pipes. I think the park should have been limited to one bowl, had an expanded street course, and a smaller half pipe to train newer riders. The park could also have been expanded to the back of the property where there is an existing attractive but inactive (at least when I was there) water feature. Then there is also a lost opportunity with the buildings on site. It begs to have a concession stand with food and drinks, and could easily host a skate shop.

I plan to go again but the missing pieces mentioned above inform my 4-star rating. It is great having a skatepark...

Such a lovely skatepark, I'm so jealous of all y'all!!! Easy snake run kinda bowl with roll ins and small drops for beginners. A deeper end in a perfect circle and a tunnel to skate through. Huge pool coping bowl for the extrema folks and a small pool coping egg shaped bowl, which I have never seen before. Decent street section. For all the oldies skating, go early. No one is there. The skate park is really impressive. If you are new to skateboarding I recommend going early in the morning when it is less crowded to enjoy kickin' around without having to worry about crashing into people.
