Update: I added the feedback below 3 months ago as I had had a good experience eating at this restaurant. However, I am deeply saddened and disappointed at the way my two aunts were discriminated by the restaurant staff yesterday. In some places in Peru, white people may get preferential treatment than people that look indigenous, but that shouldn’t happen here in the US. We live in a country with a great number of races and ethnicities and no one should be given preferential treatment based on their ethnicity. Apparently the restaurant was busy yesterday and people had to wait to be seated (as its expected on a Saturday). My two aunts were next in line to be seated, however the host/waiter picked a couple of white peruvian gentleman - that were second in line- and proceeded to take them to their table. My aunt asked why these people had been taken before them and the waiter response was : “they had a reservation”. In disbelief my aunt whispered: “some Peruvians will never change”, at which time one of the guys said “we don’t have a reservation, please take the ladies first”. Half of the people waiting to be seated witnessed the entire incident which caused extreme discomfort and sadness for my two aunts, who have been living in the US for 21 years and had to experience this type of discrimination in this country in a peruvian establishment from all the places! Despite my advice, my aunt didn’t want to address this incident with the owner as she was afraid the waiter would get in trouble. However, this needs to be addressed right away as no one should be treated like this and no one should think that is ok to discriminate people based on their looks. I look forward to a response. Thanks!

As someone that knows about good Peruvian food, (because I’m from Peru) I must say that the food here is authentic Peruvian food. I came here 6 months ago and I loved it so much that I wanted to come back since then. I live 2 hours away from Arlington but I still drive all the way there so I can have authentic ceviche, tamales, and arroz chaufa con mariscos! I read reviews that it takes a long time to get food but that must be when you get chicken or who knows! because both times that I’ve been here (on a Saturday) I got my food right away. Aside from Ceviche 105 in Miami, this is the best Peruvian restaurant I’ve ever eaten at in the US. Five stars...
Read moreOh wow. Where to start? CHECK the menu before you go and decide on what you want. (This is Peruvian food). IF you dont speak Spanish. The menu is in Spanish and most of the staff dont speak English. My date was provided a card in english for wine. (Eye roll).
Here is a hint... if there are construction workers and non english speaking people in this place... you better dive in and eat because you are going to have an incredible meal. Open breakfast to close. I am headed back for breakfast.
Don't let that stop you from trying this incredible place to eat. The servings are massive, and some entrees are really spicy (which I love).
We had an appetizer called choros a la chalaca. Muscles with diced onions, tomatoes, lime, and herbs with house sauces. Green has a bit of a bite and tasty. Red, nose run spicy but wonderful.
I had a stew, seco de carne con frejoles y arroz..... yummmmmmmy.
My daughter had a 1/4 chicken with red beans and rice. This had to be a massive chicken! That 1/4 took up most of the plate.
My date had carne asada/bistek. Again, it's a massive plate with meat, fries, and rice. His only complaint was that he ordered medium and got well done. Did NOT stop him from scarfing it down.
Mango Margareta was perfect. He had red wine.
Live music in Spanish. Really good musicians. Looking at their ad, they also do karaoke. Outdoor seating available. The prices are so reasonable. Check out the menu... large family orders with enough food to feed an army!
TRY IT. I PROMISE YOU WON'T BE...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! We were very excited to try a new Peruvian restaurant as my husband is Peruvian. While most others have been pretty good, Chilcano's does not make the grade at all.
It took the waiter a long time to notice we were there and had a snippy attitude. Food came out way too quickly indicating that it was not freshly made. It was waiting there in the kitchen for someone to order it. Presentation was excellent, but the cooked items were tepid at best. It's as if presentation were more important to them than quality and thorough cooking. We were shuttled in and out in about an hour so they could get ready for their night club party. Way too rushed. And to top it off, I became ill the next day. No surprise given the tepid food temperatures, pre-made dishes and hypersonic service. These are not indicators of a properly run Peruvian restaurant. At better Peruvian restaurants, for example, every dish is made fresh and you have to wait for it. The food at a good Peruvian restaurant is supposed to come out steaming hot, and lacking my husband's teflon tongue, I usually have to wait a few minutes before I can even start. We were stunned. Prices are high everywhere nowadays. I get that. But these prices were way high for the rushed and tepid experience we...
