I had a very tough situation when I met Dr. Kameal. Years ago we got a rescue dog who was about 5 years old at that time. That rescue was my dog, Maxx. We had Maxx for about 12 wonderful years. Maxx was loved by all the other pet and all humans in the family. His health began failing and one by one he had bladder failure, hip displaisia, bad and deteriorating eyesight and finely dementia onset. My baby was sick. For the last 4 months of his life, I cared for Maxx like a bed ridden friend. I hand fed and watered him. I bathed him twice or more per day. I took him outside in the afternoon sunshine. I was glad to do it. But time is the universal killer of us all. The quality of life for Maxx was slowly becoming harder and harder to maintain. There came a point when I felt my ability to keep the quality of Maxx's life to a good and fair standard was beyond me. I wouldn't want my friend to endure a life that was beyond my ability to maintain. Because I love him, I knew I needed to set him free. i reached out to the local Humane Society for much needed help.
They knew of a local vet that could probably help me. She was wonderful. I was able to be with my pet and see all medical procedures he was given. But more importantly and really the most important thing of all to me. I was allowed to be beside him the whole time. I was able to help my dog to feel he was safe and in a safe place and I was right there with him. I was right at his side in his last hour. He knew I had his 6.
Doing that for my dog was one of the 5 hardest things I have ever had to do in my 74 years. The doctor was very understanding, kind and sympathetic. Dr. Kameal was very respectful to me, my pet and my wishes.
I was just reading some of the reviews from other patients. My experience was exactly like what Elizabeth J. reported. At a point in the process I did indeed become very tearful and nearly unable to speak. I didn't have to speak, the emotion of the situation spoke for me. The doctor was a bit teary eyed herself. Dr. Kameal is a wonderful and caring vet that is a credit to her chosen profession. Thank you and Thank you for caring.
I would have been lost without the help of Sue1and Sue2 of the Humane Society. These two wonderful women were caring and very sympathetic to my needs at a time when I could barely function. We explored several options and based on my wishes for a painless, peaceful and stress-free goodbye for a wonderful dog they arranged for me to see Dr. Kameal at Allen Road Pet Hospital. She too was caring and very much made a terrible situation...
Read moreAlways friendly! Cash payments only. This is a great cause to donate belongings no longer wanted. I was told they can give me a voucher to help with the cost of dog euthanasia. My dog has cancer, and I have limited funds. Voucher only good for 3 days. I think it’s almost time to pick it up. Thank you for helping me and my dog! The cost of large dog euthanasia is crazy expensive! I’ve also got vouchers to fix my cat years ago! It really helps when there’s limited income and other bills that need to be paid to survive....
Read moreI love everything Kern Humane society stands for. The store is clean organized with friendly staff. More importantly it serves a need to help people do right by our for legged family members. I love the beautiful RED LANTANA out front--I do wish that there was a store up on the east side of town by Bakersfield College perhaps. Thank you very much for all you do for our furry friends. 🐩🐩🐩🐩🐩 Gretchen Brown...
