One Bal Harbour — Attraction in Bal Harbour Village

I stayed here back in 2011 with my best friend who passed away Christmas day that year. We came all the way down from Delaware with 16,000 in cash to buy a car and drive back home. The car didn't work out so we ended up staying three weeks in South Florida. We originally stayed at the Tropic Cay Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. It no longer exists it was the last small hotel on the strip and it was only like $70 a night. We rented mopeds and rode down to Miami on one of the highways in the middle of the night. The speed limit was like 60 and these topped out at 30 or 40 lol. We tried finding a hotel and there was nothing. We had a trash bag with some clothes in it and we were just like bums LOL we're walking into these luxury hotels and the people are probably thinking we're homeless. We work our way from South Beach all the way to North Miami and the very last Hotel was one Bal harbour. We pulled up in the front with rolls-royce's and Bentleys and parked are scooters like we own the place. Go inside with our trash bag and asked the woman if they have any rooms available. She tells me that they have one sweet left and when she told me the price I said I couldn't afford it. It was like $1,200 a night. She was an angel because she tells me that because it's so late she will give it to me for half off. We were so hype and one we took our private elevator up to the room or shall I say rooms we were blown away. I've stayed in nice hotels but this was on another level. You walked in and it was a foyer with a hidden bathroom. Kitchen and living room or to the right and they were massive. To the left was the king size bedroom with a huge bathroom. TVs built into the mirrors and enough shower heads to reach every part of your body LOL. Our favorite part was the front and back balconies. Sitting on that back balcony watching the boats go in and out of the inlet was awesome. We decide we wanted to stay a few more nights and by the grace of God they gave us the same price. The next day we ended up renting a Lamborghini Murcielago V12 with a gated 6-speed manual. If you're a car guy you will understand how badass this was back then. Now it's like a million dollar car. When they came to drop it off they pulled in the underground garage and opened up the enclosed trailer. When the guy started the car there was a backfire that sounded like a bomb went off with flames shooting 6 ft out of exhaust. That's when I realized it was straight piped and that we were going to have a ton of fun and draw a ton of attention my buddy decided to buy a $100 bill button up shirt then he went around telling every person that came up to us about the car that he was a real estate agent from up North lol. The car was a 24-hour rental and you could only drive it for 100 m. We were leaving Miami that night anyway and going back to Fort Lauderdale because we still had our room there. We were supposed to meet them at 9:00 to drop off the car but the front trunk aka the Frunk was not opening and I had some belongings in there that I need it. The rental company was out of West Palm Beach so they allowed us to drive the car all the way to Fort Lauderdale and keep it for a few more hours until somebody could get there and get the trunk open. We had no problems with that lol. The funniest part of the trip was pulling up to the tiny $70 a night Tropic K hotel in a half a million-dollar Lamborghini LOL. One of the best times of my life.
