My husband and I had a great experience with both renting and buying equipment. We rented the performance ski package which was great for me since I am a beginner (it was my second time skiing) and my husband enjoyed his as well since he was able to try out some longer length skis. The rentals felt like better quality than the rentals at sugar mountain and were affordable.
As for buying, we ended up buying boots since we will be coming out to ski more often and the best place to start is with boots. Mark was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in choosing the boots that best accommodated our needs. He was very nice and patient and made my husband and I laugh multiple times. It’s amazing the difference in feel that we experienced in comparison to rentals. Mark explained the different features of the boots we had and also showed us the proper way to put on the boots and the type of feel we should experience. My husband and I spent about an hour there with trying on boots and talking and he wasn’t pushy and didn’t make us feel rushed. Additionally, my husband is a more advanced skier than I am and asked Mark about buying his first set of skis and he was honest instead of pushing a sale on my husband; he recommended my husband to do the demo package and that will allow him to know what he would like in a ski to purchase. Mark is one of the best in the business when it comes to boot fitting and a great person in general. Please, please, please see a boot fitter in person versus trying to buy...
Read moreLet me start by saying that for over a week, we have been trying to get snowboard boots heat molded (as promised when we bought them). We called the night before and asked if someone would be there the next day, and the best time to come. They told us in the morning when they open. We show up, and are waiting in line. The guy in front of us as they are dropping off his boots to get heat molded as well. He speaks to a gentleman behind the counter, who was more than happy to help. Whenever we were at the counter, a lady who is counting the money, look up at us and says “what’s your problem?” With a very condescending tone. After explaining what we were there for, she laughs at us and tells us we will have to come back in the afternoon because they are “super busy right now and won’t be able to get to it.” Keep in mind, the man in front of us was just told that his would be ready in 15 minutes. We explained to her that we have been trying to get this done, and they told us to come during this time. Instead of her trying to work something out with us, she tried to push us away and act as if they could not do it- after just telling the guy in front of us it would be 15 minutes. Very bad customer service by this lady- luckily a place much closer to where we live will...
Read moreDon’t come here to buy ski gear even if the ski shop claims to be open. I drove from an hour away to try on ski boots, I got here at 2:00pm on a Saturday, right in the middle of their business hours. We walked into the ski shop and said hi to the lady at the front desk as we walked upstairs to look at ski boots. After a short time of us standing there looking around an older man came out of the back and asked us how we were doing, I said good and I wanted to try on some boots… this is where his attitude totally flipped and he became incredibly rude. His response was there is no one here to help you with that and he walked away. I stood there confused for awhile as I had seen at least 4 employees up to this point. But I didn’t push the issue any farther. One of the boots on display was my size so I figured I would just try that on while I was here, that’s when the man came back and told me to take the boot off and to leave. I was just bewildered at this point and asked is the ski shop not actually open and he responded by saying it is but this isn’t our only business now give me the boot. First time I’ve ever been kicked out of a store and if you can believe it it was for attempting to buy something they sold during normal...
