Cashier bled on grocery bags/products and the bags were simply left out at the end of the lane.
My dad was unloading groceries from the cart to the belt when the cashier said that she would be right back and left. We were very confused but patient. No one really seemed to know what was going on and no one came to help/talk to us for about 5 min. It turns out the cashier had cut herself and left to take care of it (understandable); during her haste to leave, she had bled onto a few of the grocery bags and products. This was not told to us until I moved to go bag our scanned groceries and the new lady (who I assume was the manager) said to not touch the bags due to the blood. She then just set the bags by the edge of the counter and continued scanning and bagging our items.
I was confused, as we had already scanned the items that were bled on and I didn't know if they were replacing them or if we were just supposed to get new bags.... eventually, I was told to go get new ones off the shelf. After the second cashier/manager finished scanning our items she simply walked off, leaving the bags of food with blood on them on the checkout lane. It was so unsanitary and really freaked me out. Just while we were standing in the lane, another worker came up and tried to move the bags and was told that there was blood on them and not to touch them. The lack of communication from the staff was frustrating to us; the complete lack of procedures for proper and safe clean-up of bodily fluids was really unnerving, especially in the midst of a pandemic.
My family has shopped here many times and the staff is friendly. I really hope that they take a look at how they handle human environmental contamination and adjust their response to better protect the customers...
Read moreAlthough the store is a bit dated, it is very well maintained. Everything is clean and organized. Being the only grocery store in town, they do a great job dealing with a influx of visitors from out of town. Items in the HBC (Health and Beauty Care) area were a bit lacking in stock of some items, however the variety they offer caused no issues finding a substitute.
Their wine and beer selection is very big. They offer a discount on 6 or more bottles of wine - including local/NC wine from their reserve selection.
For a quick dinner, they do offer a full rotisserie chicken and two small (microwavable) sides for $10! That was a huge deal for us when we just got into town and were looking for a quick bite!
Only tip when shopping here, and if you have never been at a Food Lion before - ask the cashier to use the store card to get the sale prices. They will scan it with no issue and you...
Read moreI don't appreciate being talked down to because I am upset the express lane was being hogged by those with clearly full carts. I know folks want to leave as much as I do but it's frustrating, and it's even more frustrating when the cashier and a customer intentionally try to waste my time giving me dirty looks when it came my turn.
I also don't appreciate my items being thrown and being told "Here's your SO important item" in a mocking tone.
I have never experienced such rude service anywhere, (well, once at a Harris Teeter). This is not acceptable and honestly has soured my desire of going back.
Guess Lowe's Foods has my service from now on. I never leave negative reviews unless I absolutely have to. This is one of...
