Community Park — Attraction in Barrington Township

This playground is goofy. It doesn’t make sense. It looks cool until you get up close and realize it isn’t made well for young kids. There’s no way to get to the taller slides unless you scale the yellow “climbing” wall from one side to the other. The fish feature that’s supposed to be a bridge has wide enough gaps in between that a toddler could get their foot stuck. One of the tunnels is basically a short slide. The “educational” measurements they provide are wrong too lol Whoever designed this park clearly didn’t take accessibility and safety into consideration. The community park is a gorgeous well manicured preserve in South Barrington. Nature areas and a natural prairie have been expertly restored. The South Barrington Conservancy with help from volunteers like Boy Scout Troop 10 have worked very hard to make the area lovely, prune trees and remove invasive species. Something for everyone here. Large playground with a several play structures. Baseball, tennis, soccer, and green areas to run in. Extensive path system for walking or running. There’s a covered pavilion in case the sun is too hot or it starts to rain. Also, bathroom facilities. At the conservancy there are trees that represent the diversity of trees in our state.
