Mid City Ballroom — Attraction in Baton Rouge

The hippest venue in town for music and other performing arts. Huge bonus points that it used to be a church. The back rooms have DVDs, vinyl, instruments and other gear. Some vintage and eccentric items. Very friendly community vibe. Be aware that it's a non smoking, BYOB sort of scene. Parking in available, but there's not a whole lot of it, so arrive early, arrange alternate transportation or look for nearby parking lots and take your chances, I guess. A terrific mix of musical instrument and equipment shop and music venue in an old church building located in Mid City, an up and coming district in Baton Rouge. Excellent vibe, cool owners, amazing space for live acts in an easy to get to location that is also bicycle friendly. Small coolers for BYOB. Low cover charge as well. What's not to like?

I really enjoyed myself at the mid city ballroom. I got to see one of my favorite bands there so my opinion may show bias. The old churchy vibes definitely helped. At one point the singer of Every time I die mentioned how rad the stage and background were. Fair warning it gets really hot in there when it's at capacity for a sold out show.
