Drove down from TX to visit family and it was suggested we try this place. Your main entree cones with rice and gravy BUT you get to choose two additional sides. I got the turkey necks as my main entree with Mac n cheese and red beans n rice as my sides. My mom got the same entree but her sides were mustard greens and red beans n rice. The menu is different each day besides being able to get fried chicken which we did not try. The turkey necks, rice n gravy was soooo good. Seasoned well and very filling- a lot of food and worth evry cent. I wasn't a fan of the red beans n rice, but my mom liked it especially the meat in it she said and she also liked the mustard greens. The Mac n cheese was good. Never had it made with spaghetti noodles! Oh yeah you also get a corn bread muffin too! The plate was $11.95. They also offered oxtails that day for $21.95. I would definitely go back and make sure to get a plate to bring back to TX. I sure did hate they were closed on Sunday...lol. We called in the order to avoid waiting as we were told that the line could be so long out the door. The staff was friendly and the food was still hot. I think we went that evening sometime after 5 so the line started to form once we arrived and were in line. If you haven't tried this...
Read moreI would have to say no! Customer service was okay. We walked around the building to find a seat and each windowsill had black bugs, tables were dirty, and sticky. I’ve never eaten a breaded pork chop on bread..it’s always been fried and placed on sliced bread. The pork chop was not properly cooked, gummy, and red on the inside. My coworker and I both returned the pork chop with the stated concerns and didn’t want anything else and LET them keep the money as well. It was that dissatisfying. The side is an extremely small cup (maybe for a toddler) and was not satisfying. The sweet potato pie was tiny for the price and was diabetic sweet. There was too much of sugar in that pie. I would advise this location to pay closer attention to their audience, which the majority is African Americans who are prone to being diagnosed with diabetes. In addition, items with high levels of sugar makes it hard to actually taste the food. There seems to be a problem with producing quality food due to the influx of customers but that’s no excuse when it’s causing you to lose a customer and potential customers. I wouldn’t return for any reason and haven’t recommended any of my family/friends there. Eat at...
Read moreKnuckles sucking good... damn near at my own fingers off! I've been eating at this spot since I was a kind, and my dad is close friends with the owner, but that's not the half of it. Yes, this place is in the hood, and yes, it has recently been discovered by other people outside the hood, so it has become bigger. However, Mr. Delpit never switched up and never changed. He kept his franchise local and only spread to 3 places, but if im not mistaken, he closed the one-off plank road. The only complaint is,if you dont call in and order, then you will have to place an order, and it could be as quick as a 2 minute wait or 30 minute wait. BUT EVEN A 30 MINUTE WAIT is worth it. The chicken is amazing and the staff is friendly and professional. They are always busy, but they make sure to speak when they see you. On the up, man, they went into the wing business, and it didn't disappoint. We had all the flavors, and it puts any of your big block chain wings to sleep. When you go say hey to Troy and tell him them, Johnsons sent you! He'll know the judges! FYI, theres daily specials, poboys, porkchop dinners, oh, and sweet potato pies!
Knuckle...
