Staying in the area, I randomly chose this restaurant based on some photos and menu. Busy night but seated in a reasonable time without a reservation. Polite and helpful staff from the host stand to the table. My companion and I had the mushroom and focaccia appetizer on advice from our server, Cammie S. Excellent. We also split the beautiful cesar salad. Crisp, fresh, slightly sweet romaine hearts - chopped (the best) with a wonderful home made dressing and great croutons. Egg yolk grated on top. One of the top cesar salads I've had in quality and taste at a casual dining concept. Another excellent choice. The pizza was fresh, perfectly cooked, and dressed with an amazing red sauce that imparted so much fresh tomato flavor without being a glob of paste on top. The crust really shined and supported the delicious variety of meats on our Carne pizza . The woodfired dough had just the right amount of char and a crisp exterior with a soft, slightly chewy, slightly fluffy texture. Clean flavors that didn’t coat the palette or overpower the toppings. All flavors were complimentary and of certain quality. The meats on our pizza were premium and the perfect quantity. The textures were a delight and reminded me of pizzas I’ve experienced in special places on my travels. Memories of the California wine country and visits to Italy came to mind. It was that good. I can’t say enough about this great pizza and experience. Thank you for a surprisingly memorable dinner! I will return every time I’m in Baton Rouge! Thank you, Cammie S. and the...
Read moreEverything we had was superb! They do an amazing job of pairing flavors on their house pizzas! We had 5 different pizzas AND the garlic knots which are a must try! They come with a whipped ricotta I think it was that will blow you away! It was so light and fluffy. We also tried the shrimp crossing but just be warned that it is served cold which threw me off a little but it still tasted good.
We had the shrimp diavlo, carnosa, Giordano, ripieno, and the mushroom medley. All of the flavors were unique and wowed in a different way! The crust isn't paper thin like some woodburning others. My least favorite was the Giordano only because the ricotta was a little much for me. I enjoyed every single other pizza we had. I'd say the shrimp diavlo and the mushroom were my favorites. The mushroom medley surprised me because it had a white sauce! It wasn't overwhelming or too thick.
We went for lunch so it wasn't crowded or busy and everything came out quickly! Our server was very nice and made sure we were comfortable. The music was nice and not too loud, which our waitress did ask if it was too loud for us as we were the first ones there. We were seated by the refrigerator so they were coming in and out a lot but they Apologized each time they came through.
It was also a very cute restaurant! Very open kind of industrial theme! I'll definitely go back and try their happy hour which consists of special pricing on...
Read moreEverything has a pungent.. slightly vinegar undertone. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. I found several of the flavors an excellent perfected blend to the pallet. Worlds above the same old Baton Rouge classics..(meaning terrible food with a big name) ... this restaurant definitely hits on point in several areas. A hipster casual atmosphere. Modern meets vintage. One small spot for that corporate or girls night visit in a cozy corner. The wait staff is pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was highly recommended as the “Go To” and on happy hour. I give it a 4/5.. excellent flavors but a little heavy and the sweet and syrupy especially with such a large portion. Not a fan at all of the provolone dressing - once again to heavy on the pungent aspect. A miss. However the bread - outstanding. So in Baton Rouge this restaurant is pressing a 5.... innovative.. original.. however in more food forward . Farm to table areas . I’d be giving this restaurant a 2.8-3. It’s a “I’m so glad I went..” .. I’m driving across town to get there or bring out of towners. And never put a balsamic reduction on a classic - cheesecake. Overall - above average. Not blown away. But...
