My family and I cannot understand Disney inability to resolve the ammonia smell emanating from the ventilation system in their monorail cars.
I did a search for ‘smelly Disney monorail’ and found complaints every year (every month/week, really) going all the way back to 2004 (probably older, if I really looked). 20+ years they’ve been unable to figure this out!
I asked one of the Monorail workers and he spun a tail about some Dairy along the route …
If that’s the official story, it’s a poor one.
Though I’m no expert, I recognize the smell of an A/C system that needs to be cleaned.
Perhaps it’s difficult to clean? Even so, it’s many folks’ first encounter with a Disney service and it’s an exceedingly bad one at that.
They need to devise a solution to regularly clean and maintain this system to eliminate this smell.
It’s a wonder some litigious guest of the parks has not sued for damages related to regular exposure to mold whilst riding the Disney monorail. They’d have ample evidence of Disney’s inability or unwillingness to fix the problem—years’ worth.
Please, Disney, if you want to improve the guest experience, there are vanishingly few things that will or would have the outsize impact that cleaning the monorail a/c ventilation...
Read moreCan I be honest? I don't really like this Transportation center.
From what I read, I understand that Walt Disney wanted you to have the "experience" of leaving the real world and being transported to the park. Let's be real, some of us (or our significant others) don't get to escape that real world with cell phones and work emergencies.
The annoying thing is that you have to park here and take a monorail or boat to get to the Magic Kingdom. This experience just adds an extra 10-15 minutes on to my morning, it's inconvenient. First you need to park, then possibly take a tram to the TTC. We usually arrive pretty early in the morning, so we walk to it, but still it takes time.
Once you arrive at the TTC you have the bag check lines and metal detectors. Don't get me wrong, I am all about security in these crazy times that we live in.
Then you wait in a giant crowd to board the boat or you can board the monorail (if it's open that early). Then it's time for more lines to get into the park with your wrist band or pass.
I find it so much easier to go to Animal Kingdom, Epcot or Hollywood Studios in the early morning. You park, walk in (or take the tram), do bag check and scan your pass.
Like I said, the TTC just adds more time...
Read moreIt's asking too much to increase the walking distance from lot or tram drop off for whatever California has dreamed up for us at the new park entrances. Especially in this heat. The 2 Bobs must really hate WDW. Had to bypass the restrooms before security. Car and walk lines were long then the security lines. I also disagree with the smoking areas being outside the security perimeter. There has to be a more creative mind at The Walt Disney Company to figure this out to satisfy everyone. And none of the US flags were lowered for Memorial Day on Disney property. Shocking lack of respect for those who gave all in service to this Nation. Just 1 day must be too much to acknowledge our...
