We visited on a Thursday morning in mid-April 2025.
We were already visiting Cleveland and decided to take a short trip to drive up to here to grab our passport cancellation stamp for this memorial.
If you go into the community center and walk up to the front desk, the staff knows what to do if you ask for the NPS passport cancellation stamp. They also have a one sheet printout that you can read that tells the story of what happened and the reason for the memorial and what each motif in the structure represents. It's a very interesting read.
Then you can walk outside (unless you did this before going in) and see it just outside. You have to cross the street but it was nicely manicured area.
We probably didn't spend more than 10 mins in the community center reading the info sheet and getting our stamps. We spent a few mins outside observing the memorial and trying to see what we just read about on the info sheet.
If you're in the area anyways it was a nice memorial to visit at least once. There really isn't much else here unless you a part of the...
Read moreThere's a Passport To Your National Parks stamp here (hence the reason for my visit). It's on the grounds of the Jewish community center. The staff are friendly enough but they mostly just handed me a piece of paper with Berger's story and pointed me to the sculpture outside. I probably should appreciate the significance of the event more than I do, but I also think the National Park Service could do a better job highlighting the significance of what happened, perhaps with some displays about the Munich Massacre and maybe have the JCC show a documentary film about Berger and the incident to help younger people like me understand what happened and the significance of it to...
Read moreIf you're looking to visit all the National Park sites, this memorial is probably on your list. A word of caution for those who come to visit, the memorial is small and there is only one sign to commemorate it. If you're looking for a passport stamp, it's inside the Community Center at the front desk and the staff will gladly help you and even give you a handout about the memorial. I would advise checking the Community Center's website to determine if they'll be open because they do celebrate all the Jewish holidays. Overall, if you're coming here just for this memorial, make sure to stop by some of the other National Park sites to make it...
