We ventured the hour plus trip on a snowy Friday evening to try this interesting place. After being met at the door with a little weirdness, at 830/9pm, we returned to our car to contemplate what we were to do next. After about 5 minutes or so the hostess/bartender/server/everything came to my car and told us that the kitchen had mistaken a Friday night for a Thursday night and invited us back inside. After the snafu she seemed a little frazzled at having to preform the jobs of the entire front of house but we assured her we weren’t picky and to take her time we were in no rush and didn’t plan on being difficult. We ordered drinks, an old fashioned and a spicy marg. The smoking apparatus apparently had been down for sometime but it wasn’t a big deal and overall the old fashioned was pretty ok. At least the bourbon wasn’t Evan. It was actually bullet. Bonus points. It was missing the orange but the black cherry was on point. The spicy marg was in fact not so spicy unless you drank from the rim, they put it in a mason jar glass with a straw. It had a strong jalapeño taste and was tart. We ordered the big back burger and the salmon shrimp Philly and a side of sweet potato fries. If you’re not a big back do not order this burger. My husband was impressed with the burger, to say the least and the sweet potato fries were the added touch to push him over the edge. I had the salmon and shrimp Philly and it was great. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the salmon was tender and juicy. It was slightly spicy, I can’t do much spice so maybe not to someone who can, but not overly so. I honestly would have expected this quality of seafood from a costal town, seaside not lake side. Over all kinda pricy for a sandwich place, they do in fact have forks. Our bill with 20% gratuity was about $100. The only complaint I would have was that this is the only place where I would say DoorDash took away from the experience. Dashers in and out every few minutes was distracting and made the “dining room” chilly. Maybe switch them to the back door only as this is where the pick window is for them. We will happily check them off our places to eat list but unless in the area for another reason probably will not be returning because of the price. Don’t let this stop anyone from trying them for the first time though as you could find a...
Read moreWe decided to try this restaurant after searching "family restaurants near me" on Google Maps since we aren't from the area. I'm not sure how this made the list of "family restaurants" (probably out of the restaurant's control), but they do not have a kids menu and the music on our visit today was loud with explicit lyrics (B** Better Have my Money by Rihanna, for example). I wouldn't categorize that as kid-friendly. Also, the volume level made it hard to hold a conversation at our table. We knew based on reviews that service would be slow, and it was. Our waitress was very attentive and nice. Other reviews mentioned a strong cleaning product smell, and that is what we smelled until our table neighbors' food arrived and smelled delicious. We had a party of 7, and 1 of the meals was forgotten but brought out fairly quickly. The sandwiches were good, but the fries were luke-warm / tasted like they were normal frozen fries from a bag and didn't match the sandwiches' tastiness. Even my 13-year old bottomless pit son decided to forgoe his fries, but he said the wings were great. The sauce on the Cleveland Chicken Boy sandwich was SO GOOD. My daughter got french toast and it was lackluster without the a-la-carte toppings which was unfortunate for the price. My husband got the rice bowl with chicken and teriyaki which should have been right up his alley but he said it tasted fishy despite not having fish... maybe the way the rice is prepared? Again, the food was expensive for what you got. Two at our table got the big-back breakfast sandwich which they enjoyed but struggled to eat as a sandwich (which was fine since they do offer forks despite the name haha) My husband didn't realize a gratuity had already been added to our bill and the bill he was shown to pay was just a total, not itemized, apparently. So he tipped an extra 20% on top of the added gratuity. It wasn't stated anywhere as far as we saw / the waitress didn't mention it. Overall, the atmosphere was okay (smell / loud music), the staff was great and the food was good. Again, I wouldn't consider it "kid friendly" but I would return with my husband for the Cleveland Chicken Boy... the other half of which is currently in...
Read moreI visited this restaurant for the first time today and overall I wasn't completely satisfied with the food and service received. Initially the service was pretty good but as the visit went along and by the time to leave, the service went downhill. I ordered the salmon and shrimp Philly which had some watery salsa I assume that caused my bun to be soggy so that was a huge disappointment considering the fact that soggy bread is nasty and the salmon wasn't seasoned well. $22 for the Philly that didn't come with at least a small order of fries should at least come out without soggy bread. Informed the waitress of my disappointment but nothing was said nor done. Not looking for a discount or anything on those lines but possibly state that you will let your manager know so they can inform the cooks would have been nice. Ordered salmon tenders with fries to go as I wasn't pleased with my Philly and that was much better minus the extremely small order of fries that accompanied the tenders. My bill was roughly $41 & left the waitress a tip of $11 roughly even though I wasn't completely pleased as I understand things happen, but then she never came back to the table, never thanked us for coming in, never told us to have a good night, bye, NOTHING!!! Then we are always told that we should support without looking for a discount or complain about the prices and told to be understanding but the service you receive and the food you receive is subpar. Only leaving this review because after all the negative things that happened, I still did what I am expected to do to still end up unsatisfied while the business made their money and the waitress made a tip she didn't earn. At least my nephew knows a couple of the cooks and he called one of them and the cook stated that I can come up to get it resolved at a later time since I wasn't pleased. Crazy that someone who wasn't even there at the time and is the cook knew better how to address or at least make an attempt to resolve the issue...more than what I can say for the waitress. Hope this isn't an ongoing issue for your business and wish you...
